Comments (16)A lighting alternative would be to add a crown and recess cove lighting...it can go a bit lower on the wall as your head is typically down the center of the hall, not on the edges. I was also thinking of the old lighting fixtures they used in offices a lot which was a fluorescent that was mounted to the wall behind a finished board that allowed the light to shine both up and down, but not across. Or maybe you can find some wall art that provides light too. Or you can go with something smaller and wall mounted that will wash the wall (house of troy)... Comments (32)Trees! That would be fun. I had been thinking of a spot to stick up that Cole & Son "Woods" paper, but a smaller pattern might work better with so many doors. And grasscloth. I had looked into it for my entry hall and living room and elsewhere (perfect cover for 50s paneling, right?) and was under the impression that it just wasn't durable enough. I'd love to be wrong. Or find a good faux grasscloth. WHERE does one go to look at wallpaper in person these days? Seriously, are there any more wallpaper stores? You all have not made this easier at all by giving me so many options I hadn't considered! So thanks! :) Do we all agree that the can lights must go, or is replacing them with ones that actually illuminate good enough? With the furnace intake and an attic access panel and four of the recessed lights, I think that the ceiling is sort of busy and making the light fixtures more substantial might help distract from that. Really, this hall isn't awful. I'm putting off the rest of the house because this is actually manageable. Actually I was planning on doing the entry hall which is well-lit and also brown and thought I needed to carry the treatment into this hall which branches off from it but there is a door. I don't have to match! Gee. I need to focus. :)...See MoreLong Wide Hallway - How To Decorate? PICS
Comments (7)What about adding some wainscoting and runners to help fill the space like this area. I like how they placed the vase and books on the console table. The photos don't have to be of your family, they could just be scenes that you like. A set of photos (think places you've traveled, places you like -all in black and white addes a touch or formality since you'll see it from your living room. [traditional hall design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-hallway-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_743~s_2107) by san francisco interior designer Amoroso Design Alternatively, you could just have a beautiful rug there and the console table and grand lights like this space: [traditional hall design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-hallway-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_743~s_2107) by los angeles interior designer Elizabeth Dinkel I started a search for you so you can gather some inspiration from here as well: Here is a link that might be useful: [Wide hallway with console table images[(https://www.houzz.com/products/wide-hallway-console-table-prbr0lbl-pl~l_88732)...See Moreshead
