Pharaoh x 3 for confused; please explain. I have a double bowl undermount stainless sink surrounded by a seamless single slab of silver sea granite. 11 years later it's still going strong. Not a crack or chip anywhere in the kitchen and I don't baby it. Hope I didn't jinx myself! Love the color and wish I could keep it for my remodel, but layout changes prohibit that. Dishdiva; how stressful! I'm glad they'll be replacing it. I'd insist on it. My sister experienced something similar. Big beautiful slab of granite for the island was installed with a crack. She saw it and made them replace it. Installed again and they used the same slab repaired with filling! Supposedly not noticed by the contractor when installed. Like sis wouldn't notice? Not a chance. She was livid, rightly so, and made them replace it with the new piece she picked out before the 2nd install. She has cream paint finish with a walnut island, Plain and Fancy I think and they were able to remove it twice without damaging the cabs and believe me if they did, she's have them replace those at their expense also. Hope that's reassuring. Love the color of your granite (green fan here) and what you've shown so far and I look forward to seing your finished kitchen. Please keep us posted. I've got my fingers crossed that 3 times the charm!

Note the faucet holes are for the Karbon faucet since the control valve is a non-standard size. From GW Album Here is one of the small cracks in the enamel finish near the corner just as it turns over the edge of the sink. From GW Album You can see the crackle finish makes it hard to see a realy crack. It is easier to 'hear' the crack in the video as I run my finger nail over it. If they had just extended the cardboard protective strip all the way around the sink instead of just in the corner this chip probably wouldn't have happened. From GW Album

jean12388 is the crack real close to a corner of the cutout hole, or is it somewhere in the middle of the span? alwaysfixin, before the cooktop gets placed into the cutout hole, you can see the raw edges of the entire hole. If it was cut with four straight saw blade cuts, you can see that by the way the corners look, where the saw cuts meet. If the corners were first cut with a drilled hole, to make a rounder curve that the saw blade cuts up to, that would be visible. Diagrams showing this can be found on the web. I saw diagrams like this in a technical training document made by a quartz manufacturer. Drilling a large hole in all four corners will make the four inside corners rounded after the saw cuts the straight sides. A rounded corner is far less likely to generate a crack. A sharp inside corner is more likely to generate a crack. The crack starts here. hth

Depends on the sink. a Rohl, or any farm sink finished all around, can be installed without a counter. It needs a super sturdy base as it weighs a lot. The faucet would be wall mounted. Think of a bathroom vessel sink. The only downside is that as a basin it is subject to drips down the sides and back. here is a Laundry room sink done like that.
