I do use them. I'm allergic to bandaids so I tried the latex free and was able to use them. If I use a regular bandage, I was have an ugly red rash any place the bandage touches. Strangely enough, I only have this problem on certain parts of my body, like my fingers aren't bothered by any sort of bandage.

Not sure if this will work on your neck - but DH is allergic to the adhesive so he uses elastic stretch bandages that stick to themselves without adhesive. Works well for things that you can wrap the elastic around like fingers, arms etc. There is a beige color too but it's still noticeable.

I wouldn't wait 2 weeks. I'd call the dermatologist - after all that is their specialty.

I had a surgery years ago where they used steri-strips to close the incision. As they removed them about a week or so post-op, they found a long row of ulcerating hives underneath them! At first I thought that I’d developed an allergy to latex, but there is no latex in steri-strips. Instead, I’d developed an allergy to the adhesives in bandaids! To this day, I can’t use bandaids, medical patches, steri-strips, etc.! Within an hour or so they cause first welts, then hives under the adhesive part. And, if left for days, they ulcerate. Could you possibly be allergic to the adhesives in them?

Yes, the adhesive is often the problem. I react to most adhesives. I once had to use a medication patch and reacted to the part with the medication, the adhesive of the patch and the tape I used to keep the patch from disadhering to my weepy skin-three different types and colors of rashes. My DH had a similar experience with clear plastic bandages after surgery. The super strength stuff around the edges caused welts and the main part a scaly rash. We read up on bandages and it is usually adhesives that cause the problem.

I'll react to the adhesive from a bandaid. I can just about get away with wearing one of the common types on a finger but really no place else on my body.

My dermatologist took a suspicious looking place from each shin a few years ago. She suggested I might try Nexcare for Sensitive Skin. I wore those, changing them each day and placing at a slightly different angle on my legs and they were OK. I didn't keep 'moist and covered' as many days as was suggested to me though.

Trial and Error, I've found I'm fine with the steri strips by 3M Co. I keep a supply, some gauze pads of assorted sizes and fashion my own 'band aid'. I don't know what is different about the steri strip adhesive but my own quirky skin doesn't object to them ;).

DH is allergic to the adhesive in particular brands of bandage. I have had bad reactions to the adhesive in some of the bandage used by physiotherapists if it gets wet.

I use a gauze pad and silk tape.
