Newly installed mini split tripping breaker. Smoke coming from unit

HU-597724591
last year

I just installed an AUX mini split on the home I'm building. This was my first time installing one, but I watched several videos and am confident I had all wiring done correctly. Initially the indoor unit wasn't getting any power. There was power in the disconnect coming from the panel, but tested wasn't picking up current from wires going to the outdoor unit and the unit would not turn on. Eventually I just wire nutted the wires together in the disconnect according to the way they were on the connection points, just so I could see if it would turn on and run. When I turned on the breaker I heard the beep from the indoor unit and the breaker tripped 2 seconds later. When I got up to the outdoor unit, there was some smoke coming from inside. Now I'm worried it's ruined. Help!
