Breakfast Area makeover

Hi - we are looking to purchase a table that seats 6 people for our breakfast area. This table is 42” and not big enough. Would a 60” round table and chairs overwhelm this space? Should I choose a rectangular table instead? Also, what color table and chairs? I feel like we have a lot of wood in our kitchen which you can see to the left so I’m afraid to keep adding more of that color. I know a new light fixture is needed and I’m considering adding curtains if I can squeeze them in (we have built in blinds in the windows so curtains would just be for texture/aesthetic). Any advice is appreciated - thanks!!

Hard to tell the size of the space but it looks like a 60" would work . Do you need 6 seats all the time ? I have had a 54" round where we could squeeze in one more chair than the 5 we usually used. I would avoid arm chairs type style fo sure. Why not just use a cardboard piece on top of thetable to see how it fits . I actually might just get a 12mm piece of glass and put it on the table you have for a bit lighter look.

We are a family of 6 so I would need to have 6 seats all the time. The width of the bay window opening is just shy of 9 feet and we have probably 11 feet lengthwise.

Even with chalk paint it will chip eventually, and gray isn't the best color for your floors or walls. I would keep the table as it is, and replace your pillows instead, with a more graphic pattern that incorporates the white, gray, and yellow. Or paint the walls. The table is the best thing in the space.

Cawaps - Yes, thinking about moving it to the dining area. I have two other chair and 2 additional extension leaves. Maybe not a good idea but I'm not likeing the dining furniture.

Closing up that wall completely would give you a wall to put your couch on, so you would be facing tv and fireplace without looking sideways at it. You can always then put a chair, and a small table where the couch is now.

Without a floor plan it’s not 100% accurate to say what would fit. The kitchen is to the left and a living room to the right? How much space would there be to walk from the kitchen to the living room? Hard to say. More fabrics will solve the problem of too much wood. Meaning rugs, curtains, upholstered or caned chairs.

Here is a broader view of the space for reference. We are north facing so it’s always dark back here.

a larger table would be fine, I would do something painted or a metal frame with a glass top.

simple chairs.

I would not add fabric to the window, the blinds are fine.

I would lower the light fixture to 30 - 36 inches above the table top.

I like the idea of a curved dining bench with a back at the bay window with an oval table or larger round dining table. Use your existing chairs on the other side.

This is a banquette, but you could get the same effect and utility from a curved dining bench. I
