Does anyone grow Bill Warner rose? Im pretty sure that is an incorrect spelling.
RVR just contacted me that my wait list order is available.
It seemed like someone had some beautiful pictures that inspired me to go searching but RVR picture isnt too flattering.

Okay, with the correct spelling found it help me find and yes it is a beautiful rose.

Never mind. I called to order it and it is gone. They only had 4 they sent emails to everyone on the wait list. I honestly got the email 30 minutes ago.

He said sometimes someone will buy all available.

I have been pondering this question. Most of the climbers are too big for a six foot post. I think one of the large Austins would be good - Sharifa, Mary Rose or Heritage. All are fragrant but probably would need some spraying. Aloha is a good rose but mine is too wide for growing up a post. A friend in NJ grows Dream Weaver upright but I am not sure of the fragrance factor. Good luck!

I got it last spring, so it's still a baby geting settled in its pot. But thus far, I'm not that impressed. When they named it "orchid" something, I was thinking "oh good, we finally have a good disease-free lavender in the Austin/romantica-type bloom form." Not! There are still none of those. Orchid Romance is just a soft pink ruffly florrie, of which there are many, many others. I haven't seen anything all that unique about this one, except Radler's name and reputation for disease-free. I suspect that Star is just trying to capitalize on that.

FJ, you are, I think, in San Jose, CA? If so, you could likely take a day-trip to Petaluma, to Garden Valley Ranch, where Vintage Gardens has a retail outlet. (This late in the year, I might call first.) Failing that, I'd be surprised if we did not have some of the red Chinas to sell in April, at the Sacramento City Cemetery Open Garden. That would be another great day-trip from your area. Later in April, there may be some roses for sale at the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden, on Guadalupe Gardens Day. Failing those sources, I would order from any of the good Old Rose Vendors. (Vintage, Ashdown, Rogue Valley, Roses Unlimited, Antique Rose Emporium, et al). My Emmie Gray came from ARE. Kristine, I really lucked out on this one, since I generally never go on my computer until around 3 pm. I just happened to check my email around 12:30 today b/c I had a Christmas party to attend, just to see if there were any updates on it. Turns out that was 17 min after the RVR email about Bill Warriner. I jumped on getting two immediately. My Bill W plant is a healthy 19 year old, but he's now in the tough to find category, plus he's been very hard to root for me. I finally got one to root a few months ago for one of my trading partners. Anyway, I feel so lucky that I saw the email when I did (I almost always see them too late). Fingers crossed that RVR sends the right rose, and I'm gonna keep trying to root Bill from my original plant. Wow on them only having four, but kudos to them for still trying, given how hard he is to root. I've been on the wait list for probably >5 years.

Susan, if I had to lose out I am glad that it was to you. I have so many new roses coming that it is hard to be dissapointed about missing out on one .

I feel like Moses talked about this rose before because it is on my wishlist too. I think maybe he had enough to make a bouquet?
