Yes, I did it to a pocket door in 2021. It was a bicycle innertube which i cut some little loops out of. Now it was extremely hard and a matter of significant dexterity to get the loops to fit around the wheels. Not easy. You will notice there is a cut in the video where the rubber suddenly appears properly wrapped around the wheel. That's a cheat. 8 wheels what a pain in the butt! I mean, you put one rubber on, and in the process of doing the next wheel, you might accidentally push the previous rubber off. I think I let some of the previous glue dry before moving on to the next wheel. But I succeeded in doing this. And also, I used some glue to get the inner tube rubber to stick to the wheel, 5 min epoxy as I recall. Because otherwise the inner tube loops come off too easily due to the spinning motion. Use vinyl or nitrile gloves. It did seem to make the noise better. The customer has had no complaints.

I remember seeing a draft stopper in a gadget datalog. It had the face of Bill Clinton on one end, and was marketed as a "draft dodger". After a front door has been in use for several years, often the draft seal on the bottom of the door tears and leaks cold air. This assumes you have a conventional seal and not an upgrade interlocking seal with the threshold. Replacement seals are available from hardware stores such as Home Depot and Menards. Both junky and good designs can be found there. Choose a design that will fit in the allowance space at the bottom of your door. Some designs nail to the bottom surface of the door. The door will have to be removed from its hinges to put this one. However, there are door sweeps amde of vinyl that do not require the door to be removed. These are "U" shaped in cross-section the are fastened to the door by small screws on the vertical surfaces of the door. The other 3 sides of the door can be sealed with strips of brass or bronze having a "V" shaped cross section. After a house settles, sometimes the gap at the top of the door becomes tight along part or all of the edge. In that case, the top of the door must be shaved at the tight places to accomodate the seal. When shaving the door, tilt the top surface a bit so that upon closing, the edge that first meets the door frame is a little lower than the other edge. This makes for easier door closure. The metal "V" strips are also effective at the hinge edge of the door. However, if there is a wide gap here, a felt strip can be helpful. Be careful that you don't create a hard-stop interference along this edge. Because of the great leverage, the door hinges or screw-holes can be damaged if a hard-stop interference is made here. In my house, a measure of very low tempreature is when frost appears on the INSIDE door knob! LOL.

marti8a- We have 2 sets of aluminum clad, low e, argon filled sliders and a set of the same outward opening french doors, all by Eagle (now owned by Andersen, but independent when we purchased them 8 years ago). They all operate easily, close securely and have no air infiltration, we are in NNY and have wind, cold and snow and have never had a problem. While I like the look of french doors better, we chose sliders in two our of three locations because we wanted screens on the doors, we don't have or want A/C, so screens are on the doors are a must for us. The one french door we have will someday open onto a small sunroom/conservatory (hopefully), that's why we chose a set of french doors in that area. Eagle, as well as the other well known manufacturers, have lots of options on the interior; primed, painted, stained, different wood species, hardware options, etc. We rented a house with vinyl sliders when we were building and I would not recommend them at all, they didn't work well, ice built up in the channels and the cold air poured in seemingly from the entire opening. I strongly prefer the wood interior and aluminum clad exterior, but overall I would get the best ones you can afford, good doors and windows pay for themselves in the form of lower energy costs. Get the best quality and highest rating your budget can afford (DP or Performance Grade) because of the southern exposure. A multi point lock on both panels would be ideal. Not all multi points are created equal. I prefer a multi point that locks into the head and sill of the door frame not to the adjoining panel as some do. They will help to keep the door panels plumb over time. If you don't have an overhang or trees providing shade in the summer, I would also recommend Lowe 366 or its equivalent. As for the install, make sure they use a sill pan under the door. Again, especially because of the southern exposure. Familiarize yourself with the manufacturer's recommended installation method (should come with the door or found online) and question anything you don't like. Don't hover over the installer's shoulder as they won't appreciate that but show that you care and want it done right. You won't regret it.
