Help-my daughter is mad at me
Comments (29)Hi Jannie, I'm so glad that your daughter came around. How tough for you. I also have a chronic illness, though not as severe as yours, and cleaning is just not always possible. When I was a teen my mother was very depressed and the house always looked awful. I blamed her entirely and unfairly. I did try to help, but she wasn't really able to work with me. I think she felt that she had to do everything herself, and felt insulted when anyone else did some cleaning. It would have been really helpful if there had been a third party (like a therapist) to help us work on these issues. I had 5 other siblings though, and I think my mom barely noticed my rage. As for having temper tantrums, I'm not sure I'll ever outgrow them. Last year I reached the end of my rope and stormed through the dining room kicking Polly Pockets left and right, hollering "I'm sick of picking up all these toys and I'm not going to do it any more!!" (dd,6, quietly walked downstairs to her father and said "Mama is flipping out.") I'm still finding those stupid little shoes. Anyhow, after that I got on the SHE system (same as Flylady, but using paper instead of computers.) What a difference!! I hope you and your daughter can continue to work together. (((hugs)))...See Morestill need help with my daughters' bedroom
Comments (6)I don't think it matters as long as you can definitely tell they are different colors. If they are too close in shade then it might look like you were trying to match, but didn't quite make it. :-) In my daughter's room I have a shade and sheer curtains. If everything is closed then the room is really dark (great for naps and summer when she goes to bed when it's still light out). If I want just a little light, or some light with privacy, then I open the shade but leave the sheers closed. And when I want it bright, I open it all up! Works great for us. My son's room had blinds, but I replaced it with a shade. Our neighbor's son had a tragic accident because of cords from their blinds and I immediately rid my home of all cords. They even had the child safety cord winders, but he reached it somehow and figured out how to get it off. Just my two cents, since your daughter's bed will be right up against the window and she could easily stand on the bed and get to the cords....See MoreCould you vote to help my daughter win a $25 grocery gift card?
Comments (16)Jaime asked me to give you ALL a big thank you from her! She won the $25 grocery card! These kids are amazing, or at least I think so! Jaime does such a good job with the refunds and couponing that they normally budget just $75 every two weeks for groceries (for her and her husband). She tells me that since she won the grocery card and also had a $25 coupon left from the early stages of this same promotion, that she will have to allow only $25 more for groceries for the next 2 weeks (in addition to the $50 (coupon and grocery card) that she now has). Wish I was that efficient of a shopper! Thank you again, everybody!...See MoreNeed help finishing my daughters room.
Comments (5)What a sweet room. Since you already have a window shade, if your daughter likes it, I think a nice puffy white valance would be really cute. For the awards and belts, I like one of those peg style coat hangars that you use in a hallway, She can hang multiple awards on each peg... and you could even do a diy one if you were up to it. I love the chenille area rugs from Target. They are about 3 x 5 I bought two of them about 10 years ago (at least) and they are still going pretty strong. I like that I can shake the dust out of them outside and run them through the wash and/or dryer to clean. I use a rug pad underneath to make them a bit more comfy and to make sure they don't slip so much. I have one in a mixed green, and one in a mixed purple. I know I've seen pink as well (not sure what you're looking for). They make a nice cozy spot to sit on the floor and read, play, whatever....See Moremarmiegard_z7b
