I love the ambiance it creates, but I'm worried it might be a little too cramped. Thoughts?

Very nice room. Did you try it in the corner? Can the sofa go back a few inches? Can the shelf unit go flat against the wall or is it too wide? Flat will create visual space

What do you use this lamp for? Seems you have nice overhead lighting and if you are just using it for reading you could find something much smaller. It is a pretty lamp but I think it makes the space look too crowded. A nice MCM reading lamp / pharmacy light would be a good nod to your MCM chair.

lou you should re-check your AC condenser mdl number. You intend it to be the two ton XL15i? it seems that you definitely want a Trane with an air handler that will fit your space. Correct? so here are the matching performance/eff numbers. 1418941 Active Systems XL15I TRANE 4TTX5024A1 4TEH3F24B1 24800 13.10 15.75 Here are the measurements of the air handler. 2/4TEH3F24A1000A 24,000 2 43 21.5 21 It should be noted this system does not qualify for the tax credit. I assume you will have a small heat strip for those rare days you need a little heat. correct? here is something to consider. the heat pump version for this same system in the XL15i and XR15 both qualify for the fed govt tax credit and when all is said and done, most likely will not cost you a dime. ask dealer to provide a quote. it may get you closer to the Rheem price taking the tax credit into consideration. see below. Stairs are not designed by angles, at least not in the US but 34 degree angle would create a slow rising stair and be inefficient if you are trying tisane space. The ceiling height is not the total stair rise; you need the floor-to-floor height. 100" is 8-4 which is probably the ceiling height. If that is the case, the floor to floor height is probably about 112" The most efficient stair would use a 7.5" riser which would require 15 risers which requires 14 treads. 14 treads at the US usual code minimum of 10" (don't count the nosing) is 140" (11-8) total horizontal run. The code minimum stair width is 36" so if this is an entrance foyer with an L shaped stair, one of the room dimensions probably needs to increase 3-0 or more or both might increase about 18". A simple way to look at it is the sum of the two sides must equal 23-0, What you have now is 20-0. A 34 degree stair would require larger and more treads doubling the amount of the increase needed.

Put it in the corner where it will light up both walls. If you can move the sofa back 1"-2" that will connect sofa and light plus provide some reading light.

I really want to put a lamp in that spot. There needs to be clearance behind the couch as there is an entryway right behind it—so it can not be pushed back any further.

Maybe something like this would fit better?

Moved the couch back an inch, and moved lamp to the back corner. i think this is better…

I rather liked it the other way, it looked styled. This looks like a lamp in the corner. The bookcase is the rouge not the lamp

For the Christmas tree where that bookcases for now and then after the season is over replace it with a nice big plant

Can we keep playing with your space? It's a pretty tight room, so consider getting a tall narrow bookcase, gold finish to echo lamp, that would face straight out to the room, if you need a bookcase. (Match finish of bookcase to lamp. It looks like brass on my screen, but maybe it's light wood. I pulled this photo from Amazon.)

The current bookcase makes the room look more crowded than it needs to be. The diagonasl placement cuts off visual and actual space.
