Does this lamp fit my space?

I love the ambiance it creates, but I'm worried it might be a little too cramped. Thoughts?

Very nice room. Did you try it in the corner? Can the sofa go back a few inches? Can the shelf unit go flat against the wall or is it too wide? Flat will create visual space

What do you use this lamp for? Seems you have nice overhead lighting and if you are just using it for reading you could find something much smaller. It is a pretty lamp but I think it makes the space look too crowded. A nice MCM reading lamp / pharmacy light would be a good nod to your MCM chair.

lou you should re-check your AC condenser mdl number. You intend it to be the two ton XL15i? it seems that you definitely want a Trane with an air handler that will fit your space. I assume you will have a small heat strip for those rare days you need a little heat. correct? here is something to consider. the heat pump version for this same system in the XL15i and XR15 both qualify for the fed govt tax credit and when all is said and done, most likely will not cost you a dime. ask dealer to provide a quote. it may get you closer to the Rheem price taking the tax credit into consideration. see below. Thank you all so much for the diagrams, link and ideas. This is exactly the type of info I was looking for! Gooster - I am concerned with the space looking tight visually as you point out. I don't want the seating area to look squished into a corner. That chair with it's back to the french doors would have about 34" of space from my calculations. I have it set up that way now, to see how it feels. I am very interested in learning more about your movable storage banquette with padded back. Do you have any photos you could share with me? Lavender_lass - I can't do without the peninsula in this floorplan. But, what do you mean by not being able to access the banquette? Which part? Thank you very much for your help. Scrappy25 - I really like your idea of doing a furniture piece rather than a build-in, I hadn't thought of that. Cost-wise that is very appealing. I would need it to have back support, so I'm going to look at what options might exist for that. Overall, my concerns are making it look appealing and well designed, rather than squished and that the seating would be comfortable for someone with back issues.

C_and_J, it does seem like a sizeable piece, and i'm wondering if a smaller harp would make a difference. The other route might be a drum-style shade, less tall, and would go well with the style of the lamp. As it sits, the lamp does seem to overwhelm your gorgeous table, but that's just my 2 cents.

Put it in the corner where it will light up both walls. If you can move the sofa back 1"-2" that will connect sofa and light plus provide some reading light.

I really want to put a lamp in that spot. There needs to be clearance behind the couch as there is an entryway right behind it—so it can not be pushed back any further.

Maybe something like this would fit better?

Moved the couch back an inch, and moved lamp to the back corner. i think this is better…

I rather liked it the other way, it looked styled. This looks like a lamp in the corner. The bookcase is the rouge not the lamp

For the Christmas tree where that bookcases for now and then after the season is over replace it with a nice big plant

Can we keep playing with your space? It's a pretty tight room, so consider getting a tall narrow bookcase, gold finish to echo lamp, that would face straight out to the room, if you need a bookcase. (Match finish of bookcase to lamp. It looks like brass on my screen, but maybe it's light wood. I pulled this photo from Amazon.)

The current bookcase makes the room look more crowded than it needs to be. The diagonasl placement cuts off visual and actual space.
