Comments (10)Hmm. Read through the contract 3 times and not one word price changes pursuant to anything. Guess I'll have to see how it shakes out and deal with something if it arises. I was just wanting to educate myself a bit in advance. Thanks, jakuvall. Oops. Just found an email written by me that I had forgotten about. Guess I covered my bases last month after all? Comments (7)It's up to you. Does the etching bug you? I'm one of the instigators of the "etch it on purpose" at the begining theory. You could take a lemon and rub it around the areas to blend the rings in. The etching would be more consistent that way, but it would still be etching and look different than the rest of your stone. Comments (10)Florida Joshua installed our soapstone in May. We have a seam in our sink . . . . that you can't find. People have to search to find the 3 seams in our stone, because they are hard to see/feel. He used a black epoxy, it looks like your fabricator used white? And the bit about soapstone being porous and the water seeping in? Puhlease. False. Here's my sink. The seam is in the lower left hand side of the sink, about 3 inches in. Good luck trying to find it. This is freshly oiled. This is 3 months after install. We aren't oilers. Comments (14)No probably not, but they might consider fixing it. The top guy is going to blame the cabinet guy, and the cabinet guy is going to blame the top buy, and the builder is (has) told you the house had a 1 year warranty. The subs (cabinet/top guys) have to warranty a year (hence how the build warranties it). I would try the original installer/fab shop, if you talk calm and non-threatening they might come look at it, and offer to fix (or discount the fix). Of course, this depends on the reputation of the sub the builder hired in the first place. If it was my job, I would at least come look at it, and try to find the reason for the crack. Whether it is a quality/workmanship issue, or a damage/abuse issue. Depending on what I found, and the attitudes of those involved, I could be moved to either fix it, discount the fix, or nothing.
