Eliminate the shutters entirely and paint the door a bright butternut, persimmon or orangy color to bring it forward.

I like it the way it is -- the colors harmonize quite nicely. If you want to add a punch of color, do it on the door and leave the rest alone. If it were me, instead of painting the door I'd get a new one and make it mostly glass.

I am worried the darker one still hide the door. i do like the Avon Green. Thanks for your suggestions.

How about a brighter teal color on the door. Some cushions on the porch furniture to match the teal on the door. Some pots of flowers that are colorful.

I think a new door with more glass for sure and I like the idea of the yellow or orange for the door . The shutters can go they add nothing to the exterior .

What a pretty house! I agree that grays and blues won’t look good with your brick. Is the creamy colored siding to be painted? If you’re keeping it (I would because it goes great with the brick), that’s another reason to not go gray or blue.

Dump the shutters. You could paint the front door the same creamy color as the siding. How about cranberry, not too dark? Or one of these.

What if I went with a really dark blue like Charcoal Blue Sherwin Williams? It almost looks black. I just can't do the orange tones. The siding will stay the same color. Thanks for your advice.

Black might enhance the black hole effect. I like the idea of lighter colors. What about a sage green?

I agree with littlebug. My first thought was to paint the front door the same cream color. You can always accessorize with color on the front porch.

I think the door and shutters look great with and fit your house perfectly as is. A classic look. I’d bring in color with pots and porch decor, as well as landscaping.

Just curious — what color is your Crape Myrtle when in bloom?

Painting the door any dark color will emphasize the black hole effect. You don't like orange but a burnt orange would look good with your brick. It may not be exciting but using the siding color would brighten it up.

Unfortunately, it is purple. I wish the original owner planted white. Oh well.

@Laura Lachance I just use Paint/PowerPoint to cut and paste doors from different pictures.

Do you know which paint brand you will use? BM and SW websites have color visualizers - you can upload your picture and try different colors.

Color is not my thing either and I spend too much time picking a color (and I have hired color consultants before to help with bigger projects). I would use an online color visualizer to narrow down to three paint colors - then buy samples (easiest for me is to order samples from samplize.com - they can do overnight shipping) and put them on your front door. You will need to see how the colors look at different times of the day and whether it is cloudy vs sunny.
