High tile to wood transition

Rich P
last year

Our contractor finished laying the tile and the transition from the kitchen to the wood dining room floor is an inch with the marble Hollywood cut. He had warned us when it was gutted that there was going to be a 1 inch or so step since the floors were so unlevel. But he made it sound that with the transition piece it would be minimal. Now we're out the money we spent on these pieces and there doesn't seem like a great solution. Any thoughts? Get like a 2x6 red oak (floor is red oak) and cut a slope into that?
