Please vote on which brick you like best to go with my bluestone
Comments (11)ajwillys: What do you think of the brick on the upper right? It's one of the red ones--but darker as it's a flash brick with some charcoal around it? DH and I are leaning towards that one. lamalu: I didn't think about using the bricks in a pattern as there is variation in the stone itself; but your idea sounds interesting. I wish I could visualize the overall effect better. Maybe I have to pick out more bricks! I also am concerned about bringing in too strong a red color, at the same time want some contrast to the bluestone. Is there a rule a thumb about patterning bricks--like a set of three. We like the red brick on upper right, then there is a grey one and after that?? Anyone else like the idea of using more than one color brick?...See MorePlease vote - which lamp works best?
Comments (40)Thanks everyone! I did prop up the back pink flower. I tried to put the black shade from lamp #1 on the white classic column lamp base lamp #2 and even with fringe taped up, the shape of the shade was not right for the base. The swing lamps next to bed are from a closeout sale on homedecorators.com, I think. I know a gal on here has them in her bedroom as well. There were like $16 or $18 each. The room does have a mix of elements. The black shade lamp used to be on a black wrought iron glass shelved vanity in the Princess Room which does not exist any more. I gave the twin bed, bedding, and vainty to St. Vincent De Paul a few weeks ago. I have two large color pencil and ink architectual drawings from a class project and a watercolor (not mine) of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs hanging on wall to right of bed. I have a desk with tv and computer and black office chair opposite of bed in front of window. There is also a large wall clock with a shelf mounted underneath that is on wall to right of dresser. I used to have several more floral prints in room but I decided it was too many. Could I paint the green shade from lamp #2 black? Thanks again....See MorePlease vote-which do you like better?
Comments (44)well I have to go with the corals since I have a 6yr old and if there is not some kind of pink in there she would freak out and wouldn't have anything to do with it. (personally I LOVE the greens and blues) which is what we had in her nursery but she turned 3 and her brain turned to pink and pink only which meant we had to turn around and redo her room.. Lesson learned...See MorePlease vote on which way these should be placed, ty!
Comments (29)Thanks for loving them too! We are so happy to have found these and trying to be patient waiting for them to be installed. But just having them sit there free-standing has greatly improved the look of the room as we'd imagined it would be. We'll have the glass door facing the living room as shown. The desk is actually being used by our son most days as he is a historical preservationist working on our local theater restoration, writing articles documenting the history of the buildings in our town, etc. The colonnades have defined the office and he looks very dignified in this space. When the two closets are relocated to the left side of this room the area will also serve as the foyer area with a coat closet (the other closet will open to the adjacent bedroom)...See MoreKate
