My son and his wife painted their similar looking fireplace white. It looks much better. It's fairly easy and goes with your white trim. You could go with the same color then in the living room, or a subtle grey. A grey or green/grey would compliment the other green nicely. What if you painted the mantle to match the walls? I have a 70s brick fireplace, brick to ceiling by not full width of wall. I've been researching and found instructions on cleaning the brick then putting something on it to help keep it clean and add a bit of sheen. We're not going to paint the brick, but will change the wall color around it and make a new mantle. 2016 version 2017 version Still looking for the right color for the walls. It has recirculating vents with fans to distribute heat. I keep having visions of painting them in hippie colors. So far, I've restrained my self.

I’m having trouble picking out a good paint color that goes with this fireplace. The original wall color was dark purple and we recently tried painting the walls edgecomb Gray by BM thinking the warmth of the color would blend well, but now they look purple again. The room does not get a lot of natural light because it is in the center of the house and the fireplace is so large. Any advice would be great!
