Carrara marble ok with Softer Tan (SW) walls?
Comments (5)I don't know what softer tan looks like, but I'm assuming it's a tan/beige neutral. Regardless, carrera marble is also totally a neutral and any paint color will go with it. Good luck!! And re: your flooring, you could do carrera marble tiles on the floor, too, to tie everything together, or you could go all retro and use an old-fashioned white hex tile, or a basketweave. Again, carrera goes with everything so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Anything gray-ish or white-ish will do for the floor, and will go with your white beadboard and (I assume) your white tub, toilet, and sink. And once the floor and the countertop go together, it doesn't matter what color the walls are painted....See MoreWhite trim vs tan color...
Comments (14)I don't usually have a great memory for something I might have seen or read on a forum either. What I've been doing is saving posts. I made a folder in My Documents called GardenWeb, I then make folders inside that for the decorating, new home & other forums. When I see something I want to save, I go to that forum folder, make a new folder with the post name, then save it in that. Yes it makes a lot of folders but it's a bit easier in the long run because when you save a web page, it saves as a page, plus a folder. If I save as one folder, it's easier, then I can add a picture to the folder so that I remember why I saved it....See MoreDoes SW Macadamia & Softer Tan have greenish tone?
Comments (3)Macadamia definitely has greenish undertones. I used it in my kitchen because of them - it brings out the "fresh wood" look rather than the "yellow maple" look in my natural maple cabinets. I'm not sure how much it shows up but here is a picture....See Morewhat color cabinets go well with tan mocha corian countertops
Comments (6)Gray is not out. Still going strong in brand new upscale builds in upscale communities. Live wire please share what you would do instead. I love white kitchens. I have two! But, in your case, the wood is really nice and what appears to be in good shape. I would invest in a new counter. Unless you are open concept, your kitchen can stand alone and be something different, albeit probably a classic neutral. Look at Giallo Ornamental Light granite. It has browns, taupe/ cream. It will go with your cabinets and you can use a light paint to coordinate. If you want to stay gray in the kitchen, there are quartz counters that have gray and tan. Google dark cabinets and white quartz to see what comes up. I would also get hardware. That and a new backsplash will be a really good upgrade. Paint can be tricky. Even getting away from the fact that painting wood by a professional is expensive. My recent color story: we are doing our master bath, with (gasp) gray tiles. Although floor and shower are from the same series, the floor is matte finish and appears a warmer gray than the polished, which appears more true. I tried so many samples. Everything clashed. We wound up color matching the lightest color. It turned out to be a nice gray that turns amethyst in the evening. Not exactly what I had in mind, but we need to wrap things up. I will work around it. It’s not much wall space and in a private area. I personally would only do a griege cabinet if it is offered in the cabinets choices. Doing custom on your own can backfire. Just my 2 cents....See MoreHU-229434823
