The Obamas, would look nice in Hats
Comments (35)I have long hair, well longish now since I just had a foot of it whacked off. I find headgear useful when working. My mother always wore a kerchief when she was doing serious cooking, and I sometimes do as well. Likewise I'm liable to plop on one when I'm out spading ground, or vegetable gardening to keep the mound of hair secure. I'm seriously thinking of making a couple flannel mob caps to plop on my head for winter sleeping. We like to keep the rooms very cool to sleep and bundle on quilts or heavy blankets. It's an old saying keeping your head warm is the most important part of bundling up, and it's the only thing peeking out of the covers. And really, hats, caps and scarves have saved my behind on bad hair days when I had to be out with the public. Didn't Jack Kennedy wear a stove pipe top hat when he was inaugurated? Regardless of political bent, you gotta admit Mr. Obama is a very pleasant person to look at. He'd look super in the fedora....See Morebest bargains for drapery (nice stuff)
Comments (29)I've looked on ebay and my worry is you can't always see the quality of the fabric. And heavy liners are almost more important to me than the silk quality...because we have 24 hours of sunlight streaming in on them in the summer (which eats silk alive!) I'll wander through the penny's site, and look at the others (adoptadrape sounds fun). And I am going to IKEA at the end of the month, so for fun I'll wander there. I could go with less formal styles in some of the other rooms and a nice linen drape would work. If I got them cheap enough I could reline them myself easily since I have all the equipment (it might make DH happy to see me use the stuff LOL since he couldn't figure out why I needed such expensive sewing machines that can "only do one thing") he wouldn't know a serger if it bit him in the backside heh heh...See MoreBest high hat LED light fixture to use for whole house
Comments (4)If quality of light is important then USAI. BeveLED Mini is a good option for transitional and is diurnal so you can adjust the color temp or have their software or your HA system adjust it during the day. They have very uniform color fixture to fixture so you don't have problems of some being warmer or cooler than others. They are also 92 CRI. For contemporary or transitional I'd think you'd want 2" - 3" aperture. 3" - 4" works well for traditional architecture. 5" - 6" is quite big and typically makes a house feel dated. Square vs Round is mostly an aesthetic decision though square are only adjustable in one direction which is kind of limiting so I use round unless the ceiling pattern requires square such as beadboard....See MoreBest brand high-end casement windows (not vinyl)?
Comments (4)Avoid Kolbe. I have NOT been happy with them at all after a whole house replacement with them. I used them because I could get fir casings. Some of the wood trim that holds in the glass was punky and we could NOT get Kolbe to even come look (they did not do the install). Some of the trim on some awning windows has a trim piece on the inside mount where the bottom of the window hits when it's closed, that just snaps into place. But it doesn't snap in flush so there is a small gap evident when the window is open, allowing bugs to bypass the screens and just crawl in. Again, no customer service at all. A bird just flew into my bathroom window and broke it (upper part of double hung). I called Kolbe to see if they would come replace the pane and I can't get anyone to even call me back, so a local window company is going to try to fix it after my contractor removes it. If it must be replaced, I can assure you it won't be with a Kolbe....See Moredan1888
