Are you happy with your master bathroom tile decisions?
Comments (5)We did 2 full bathroom guts this year. Best decision was using high quality porcelain tiles for floor and shower areas. They look great, are almost impossible to damage and require no upkeep. In one of the baths we used white grout on the shower walls. I may end up being sorry about that, but the bathroom is not a heavily used one, so hopefully it will wear OK. Another decision that made me happy was going with some color instead of doing totally neutral baths. One of our baths has sea green 12x12's on the floor, and to me it looks a little retro and a little new at the same time. In the other I did an accent wall of crackle green ceramics. I'm not one who subscribes to the "add a pop of color with your paint and towels" philosophy, and I went with what I was drawn to....See MoreBathroom floor tile decision help, please
Comments (29)Thanks to everyone for their concern. They are measuring today. Plumber thought it would be okay but he hadn't actually measured. I'll feel more secure when they have actual numbers. Luckily the toilet and tub are on site so they can measure. I remember from our previous remodel being worried about the inspectors catching that the toilet was too close to the tub, but no one seems to think it's a problem here (inspectors have been in and out twice and never mentioned it, so I think it must be different here). Anne, thanks! I love how it's coming along. How long did it take you to do that pattern? I love it and have easy access to dal tile, but I'm worried about committing the time to doing the design myself. I'm already doing the builtins and a bunch of other small projects. Lundy, I took a look and there are a couple of possibilities there - don't love them as much the swirly one, but definitely doable. There is so much beautiful tile on your site.. If I had more time, I'm sure I would eventually find something in the imperfects that would work....See MoreTile most of the bathroom or tile the entire bathroom?
Comments (17)Sumod- The medicine cabinets are simple wood frames with a cabinet-grade plywood back that just sit in the stud cavity. Because of the dimensions, the front of the frame projects about 1"+ beyond the finished wall. The medicine cabinet doors are also plywood with veneered edges and they are attached to the frame with standard cabinet hinges (Euro hinges). The mirrors are just 1/4" plate glass ordered to size from a glass shop and held in place with mirror mastic and a metal strip at the bottom that you don't really see. The guy who did the cabinets just made the medicine cabinets as part of the job. I don't know about the door brand...we live in a large metro area that has lots of door shops and the doors are just solid core maple doors with the center cut out and a maple panel held in with molding. They're not stained; they simply have a couple coats of clear spray lacquer....See MoreBest Bathroom Tile for Boys' Bathroom
Comments (3)" light grout that is impossible to keep clean " A bath used by males is best with epoxy grout. The Pro tiler needs to have experience using this type of grout. I have it in my baths...it is impervious to any stain / dirt....See MoreKathsgrdn
