I just completed a bathroom remodel. I lurked on the bathroom forum for months! We used halogen in an over-the-medicine-chest fixture. We had no room for side sconces. I like the bright white light. We also used 2 recessed cans that are low-voltage halogen. I'm NOT happy with those at all. They seem very Spot-Lightish to me. I'm going to explore different trim kits for those.

Joe, I would click my heels with glee over the "excuse" to purchase fabulous reproduction bulbs to show off that chandelier. Check out the link & give the friendly folks at Rejuvenation a ring if you haven't done so already. They have been fabulously helpful to me over the years. I've seen fixtures like yours (one still in use in my husband's grandmother's home when it was sold a couple years ago) and in fact I have the original light bulb with my grandmother's entry fixture with the little tip, still works. My dad presented it to me saying "sometimes you just have to build obsolescence into a product, light bulbs used to work until someone broke them but no one made money that way!" Reproduction bulbs offer simplicity, romance, and "authenticity." When electricity was new, folks showed off their light bulbs and admired them for the wonders they truly were. The light was dimmer then, the look and mood so different than if you put a spanking new bulb from a big box store. Once we got the light fixture down, I could see the manufacturer's name Lightcraft of California. I googled the name and found the patent application for the mechanism that attaches the globe to the stem. Now that I have that information, along with an exploded drawing of the internal mechanism, I'll be able to change the light bulbs in the future. As for the fixture itself, I found it for sale on several sites, including 1st dibs, where it had already been sold. Apparently, this 1960's fixture is very popular. Maybe because people like the look, but have not yet tried to change a burnt out bulb in ths fixture.

If appearance is the primary goal and it is not on a lot, I think that I'd stick with halogen for the time being. Another question is, are you using an electronic camera or software that will allow you to do color correction? It is no substitute for a good CRI, but if the temperature is the only problem, that might fix it.
