What flooring would look good in this kitchen and bathroom?

This is in a cabin style home with mostly wood accents. linoleum is down now. what would you recommend to replace this linoleum?

Both of these floors appear to be in good condition and are good colors for the cabinets. What is motivating you to want a change? Are you going to change the cabinets as well? For the kitchen, are you able to extend the flooring in the adjacent room into the kitchen?

What is the flooring next to the kitchen? As for the bathroom I agree what you have is perfect for the other things in the space . Change for just the sake of change is not IMO good value for your money.

Hi Christine! A fleshy pink would look great with that vanity and counter top. Cappuccino is another great shade you could use, too. Either color will bring out the respective colors of your beautiful vanity cab, and that quartz top. I've included samples of both shades below. Can you post a photo? Also, if you have samples of the counters you are considering, can you show those next to the floor? FWIW, in general it can be hard to match anything completely, and often an attempt that is a near miss looks worse than a contrast. Also, sounds Iike you don’t love the floor tiles, so why not go for a counter you love which could complement the floor? Also, one idea in design is to have a focus point and have the other be quiet. So if the floor gets a lot of attention, you might want to balance it with a counter that is quiet. BTW, if you don’t really love the vein-y floor tiles, one option is to go with a “quieter” floor and then choose a counter that is “louder” which you love. You might have more options in countertop materials.

Sorry to hear about the flood. I don't like hexagonal tile installed, either. It looks cool in small samples but not all over the floor, in my opinion. If you're getting cherry wood, you can do all white or all black if you desire. Not sure how a black-and-white patterned tile would look with the cherry, though. It's more your preference as to what you like. ProSource has excellent prices on tile from all the major manufacturers if you're near one. Also, Porcelanosa usually runs a fall sale, the next one being November 27 - December 7, 40% off everything which is high-quality tile and other flooring and wall materials. Since you're gutting the bathroom, you could really go with most anything, including some other color than black or white. The kitchen is separated enough from the bathroom that I don't think you need to feel bound to carry the same theme throughout unless you truly want to.

There is some bubbling in the linoleum from a leaky faucet and some staining that is not to visible in the images.

I don't have plans to change the cabinets now. I did think about painting them. I think it would be hard to match the wood flooring that is there since it was put in many many years ago. Also, it is not waterproof, so would be concerned about it getting wet.

The flooring next to it is laminate wood. The bathroom floor is fine, but since changing the kitchen, I thought it may be good to change both.

The contract recommends a wood style laminate. He is not a designer for sure. I would love to have your opinions on what to put here.

The rule is to never put artificial wood next to real wood. The fake wood looks extra bad in those circumstances. That being said, there is tile look laminate. I assume he wants to install the new flooring over the old? Watch if they do that that you don't get your appliances trapped such that they can't be removed to be serviced or replaced. The previous owners of our house did that (no doubt unintentionally), and it happened to a friend of mine. If it were me I would get new porcelain tile, especially in the bathroom. Laminate is not waterproof the way real tile is. And if they are going to remove your vanity to redo the tile you might as well get a new one. That would also give you more options as far as which tile you choose.

Right now you have warm colors and warm colors are coming back in style again, so no need to do gray unless you like it. If you decide to paint your kitchen cabinets that opens up a lot of possibilities as well, so think about what you want to do. There are many different shades of neutrals available in tile. Bring home several samples and see what you like. You can always update your post with pictures of your samples if you need more help.

Since this is a cabin I would be looking for something that looks like stone flooring, either LVT or stone look tile. Slate, flagstone, sandstone . . .
