I am not the least bit musical... but I appreciate music! I have a few gifts to recommend (to follow) ... and looking for some of your ideas as I still need some ideas for SO.

A few gifts I have purchased this year (or years prior) ...

Positive Grid Spark Amp- my BIL has one and loved it so much that I got one for SO 2 years ago. It's a practice amp but so much more-- it connects to your ipad and can add effects and background music as well as record your own playing. I am NOT a musician or a guitar player but I can tell you that both BIL and SO love theirs. If you are interested there are many youtube videos showing features and the many ways it can be used. (Under $300.. with a current deal for $219 plus a free carry bag)

Gooseneck tripod Music Stand for Ipad/iphone - this was on nephew's list this year. I can't share a link but there are many options on Amazon. I opted for one from Elitehood. (under $50)

Concert tickets - I am planning to get tickets to see Buddy Guy on his final tour. Just trying to figure out which venue/date. SO and I saw him when we first started dating so will be fun to go again. Of course, you will choose whatever artist(s) you love most!

David Gilmour Live at Pompeii Vinyl - I started out looking for a Pink Floyd vinyl for my BIL .. I like some PF songs but wouldn't call myself a superfan so I recruited SO to make some suggestions are researched best remastered versions etc. He sent me a list with all sorts of geeky annotations LOL.. and as an aside, he sent me a link to David Gilmore Live at Pompeii ... oh my, I got chills and was literally moved to tears. I also like Pink Floyd Echoes from the same venue at Pompeii but it didn't move me like the David Gilmore did. (about $87 for the 4 album set)

What suggestions do you have to share??

DH plays guitar and has a music room, so we have all/have done the great ideas you listed. Love Buddy Guy.

Speaking of Pink Floyd, we saw Roger Waters in Oct … WOW. That man puts on a show. It was awesome. Of course we love David, too — DH plays their songs often. He finds videos of isolated tracks and can insert his own guitar playing with the other instruments.

Recent buy: upgraded headphones that plug into the amp for when I’m not into hearing loud jamming (his room is close to living room). Audio Technica is the brand and he loves them.

Tuner pedals for instant feedback.

Art, of course. We have a lot of eclectic pieces in there.

A fav gift from a couple of years ago … Gretsch swivel stool.

Guitar pick holders. DH wanted something cool and quirky, so we looked every time we browsed our fav antique mall. Found these two vintage Mexican Folk Art bowls. Etsy has lots of nice traditional pick holders, too.

Project guitars. He found this blue Telecaster cheap and is going to strip and refinish it:

Cheesy personalized sign I found online (can’t remember where). :D

Another recent find — vintage Texxas Jam posters (Etsy). I attended the 1987 one when I was in HS, so was excited to find it:

He’s got a book collection in there, too, mainly Beatles and Stones biographies. Some we found used at the antique mall. We also look for old vinyls and magazines.

I’ll check with him to see if he has more suggestions.

Yes, Petal, thank you for reminding me of that great little movie! My family invited me over to their house one Fall evening for Pizza & a Movie Night, and Songcatcher just stole our hearts. She was so determined to find and SAVE those old tunes. It was an incredible little movie. (my Grandmother's little recorder used wax cylinders, which were sent off somewhere and transferred to some kind of pliable green vinyl, which could be played on a little phonograph she had) You know what other movie comes to mind along those lines?---not the content, but the DETERMINATION of the true-life character?---It's a little movie called 'Temple Grandin'. She was autistic to a point, I believe and was able to tune into the livestock being held in stock yards, as they waited for the end. She was able to read them as no one else had and by the time the movie ended, it was because of her, many stockyards put a much kinder Last Walk in place for the animals. I think Claire Danes won an Oscar for her performance as Temple, with Temple, who was there, just over the top with joy over it! As a weepy 'barely-eat-meat' animal lover, I can recommend it----I even stood in the doorway, waiting to bolt at the first sign of animal suffering, but was able to watch the whole thing. Her undying determination is what finally got her where she is today. A real hero in my book.

Thank you, I went to the link then clicked on Green "It Ain't easy".........oh so many I have to have. Can not even begin to list them in a particular order. Love the greens, chartreuse, olives, brown what have you. So many beautiful sdb seedling I want when they get introduced. Thank you for the link. Now I have even more iris to add to my have to have list. My favorite color choices. Now we need to find turquoise colored, go figure.

Terri, if you are looking at the individual postings to a certain thread, then you are not in the right spot to make a brand new thread. For that, you must be looking at the main Hosta Forum listing, where the most recent threads active are in a row, showing their origin and then how many posts and when the latest post was made to it. If you go to that page, "Return to the Hosta Forum" is also a link at the bottom of each old thread, but go BACK with your browser to reach that page also works, and then scroll down to the bottom, and see the spot where new threads are created. How cool that you got to see Roger Waters -- I know SO would have loved to have seen David Gilmour. I wish I would have been able to make it happen for his final tour.

Such great suggestions, Jinx! I know he has pedals but I think he wants some specific for the Spark Amp? Not 100% sure. I wanted to upgrade his headphones but he is happy with what he has (my old plugin Bose which I KNOW are not the best for audio).

ETA he has nice bluetooth headphones but i guess they have too much of a delay for the amp?? Again, I am not a musician .. not even a little.
