My Poinsettia Tree from last year...

Just wanted to share a couple of pictures of my Poinsettia Tree that I purchased a year ago, Nov 2021..this Spring I "pugged" my tree and by summer it has grown quite nicely...around Sept. 22 I started the 10 hours of light and 14 hours of dark process to get the tree to turn red and after 9 weeks this is what she looks like. Just wanted to share...

Thanks Everyone, I was hoping you would like it!! The original plant was in a little three inch pot and was about 6 inches tall. It was one of those tiny little guys that you would have on your work desk. By feb 1 it had one red leaf and two green ones and a long bare stem. Haha. I planted it intp a bigger pot and then did again every 14 months or so until its now in its 4th pot. It needs loads of slightly filtered sunshine and loads of water, especially in the summer. If I let it dry out the leaves will drop. Good drainage too. its never out doors,been inside for the whole time. I prune it back to shape it. if part of it shoots ahead of the rest I cut that part back, which has really kept it thick. And I love that it has the long bare trunk. Its because I started it from stem with just a few leaves on the top and then cut any shoots that tied to grow on the bottom 6 inches of the original plant. Thanks everyone!! ;-) Here's a pic of my prize Sansevieria Its got two flower blooms on it now which is very exciting!

Frost around flowering time? Did you have flowers? Bad pollination? Maybe since the trees are so young and you got fruit so early, you taxed the tree and now its just saving energy for next time.

Stepup: The normal human tendency is to blame someone else for our misfortune. If it is not about the rain, then it is about the sun. I am sure I have been there before, perhaps you have too. Enlightment and the path to happiness are when we realize that we can only control what we have control and let go of what we don't. Your SS is trying to set you up in triangulation between his father, you and him. The best is to avoid that situation. Just let your H deal with his own son in terms of discipline and such. But destruction of your property should not be tolerated and dealt w by the police. I hope your SS will only be invited back for a thanksgiving meal or christmad but that is about it. He should not be welcomed back to live.

Why did my ornamental peach tree not flower on last years growth?

My Bonfire Peach tree is in flower. The thing is, the 4 or 5 inches of last years growth does not have blooms. All the blooms are lower on the branches. Will it do this every year? I thought it would be like a flowering pear and have the blooms all along the stems even the growth from last year......

Ken, I had done it before with a regular small potted bush Poinsettia, but this is my first time getting a Single trunk Poinsettia (tree) to get it to turn red again...

Beesneed, it is a LOT of work and takes a LOT of patience to do it every single day for almost 9 weeks!! But, I had to try it or else its just a green Poinsettia houseplant Lol...one of these years I will not have the time or patience to go through it again...

Beautiful! I had bought a little $3 poinsettia in a 6" pot last year, and it has been completely negelected. i found it stuck in a corner of the courtyard on its side in June, and trimmed it up, repotted it and put it into a more suitable spot. I haven't babied it at all, but somehow it survived. The bracts are starting to turn. I hope by Christmas, I'll have a somewhat pretty plant. All the bottom leaves fell off when it was neglected, so it looks more like a mini tree than a bush, but I'll baby it next year and see what I can get.

When I lived in Plant City, a woman had two gigantic Poinsettias growing up and over her 6' wall. Sadly, we had a hard freeze that year, and they must have died, because I didn't see them the next year. I'm going to try to keep this one alive, but who knows?

I'm tempted to bring the 2 I've tended for 12 months inside to the computer and show them your photo. Shame, shame! (But they are 95% dead, so I guess they wouldn't care.)
