update: make new friends sounds of summer #8 wrap up
Comments (150)Thanks, April! I sew for fun, and also make quilts...but I never use a pattern. Can't read the things! Which is why I don't crochet much. I'm pretty good at knitting a simple afghan, though! :O) (meaning: if you like a single color, boring stitch!) lol Selling on Ebay is OK, but I've found it's only worth it with bigger ticket items, like over $10. Because there are list fees, ending value fees, and paypal fees too....so unless you charge an extra $2-3 on top of regular shipping charges (which most sellers do, it costs around $7 to ship a SHIRT! Geeze!). Anyway, I don't Ebay much anymore, only with things I KNOW will sell fairly well, because it just takes too much time...and it's not worth it in the end, to me. But I hope you make a good go of it, if you decide to try! Wishing you lots of luck!! :O) I forgot to show ya'll Aubeni's "cupcake". OhMyGoodness, I don't know WHAT I was thinking when I got this for her! (well, OK...it's pretty. That's what I was thinking!) :O) It's an 8" round Rose, chocolate cupcake in the middle (about the size of a mini muffin!!) and the rest is sugar icing. Big DUH here....I let her eat it for breakfast this morning!!!! I'm gonna be peeling her off the ceiling in about 30 minutes. (countdown begins....NOW......) Comments (1)It's too high to be useful. Better to have a cabinet that opens sideways so you can pull paper and ribbon off of dowels just above the counter you will be using without having to reorient the paper 90 degrees. Barring that possibility, I'd construct a place that fits rolls of wrapping paper and just take them out and use the counter as necessary--which is what I ended up doing. I did not want to sacrifice a regular storage space to wrapping paper....See MoreReorganized my Baking Center storage containers
Comments (7)I'm using the same flour cannister from the set I bought in the early 1950's. Everything else in the set is long gone except for the waste basket in the basement. Sugar is kept in a large glass jar on the counter. Works fine for me. But you're right about creating chaos - right now the counter in the laundry room is full of stuff I'm doing something with - Christmas decorations I no longer want, dishes to be sent to DD, bottles of wine (can't drink fast enough), "treasures" I found when trying to clean out the garage, recycle stuff that won't fit in the bin, leftover candy from Christmas, etc, etc. That brings a question to mind: do you concentrate on one area at a time to declutter, or do you flit from one spot to another? I found myself flitting: 2 dresser drawers, 2 desk drawers, 3 boxes in the garage, basement closet, guest room closet, etc. I guess I get bored when working at one task! How about you?...See MoreGift Wrap Organizing/Storage Ideas
Comments (13)Thanks for all the great ideas and resources! As with many projects, I think I need to think more about this. Right now Christmas wrapping paper is stored in a plastic upright bin, and holiday ribbon, labels, tape and sharpies are in one of those stackable set of small bins that latch together. Holiday gift bags, boxes, envelopes, and miscellaneous supplies like gift card boxes are in a separate bin. Holiday bows in their own box. All that is stored in my loft , each box numbered according to my master list of holiday supplies, taken down each holiday season and returned after the holidays are over for another year of storage. Birthday and general wrapping paper consists of a few rolls that are stacked/shoved into a corner of my bedroom closet. I've got birthday/general bows, boxes, bags, etc. stored in an under bed bin in the same room. Since I am the last woman in America still sending holiday cards ;), those are stored right now in a drawer of my filing cabinet in our home office. Random birthday, sympathy, get well etc. card are in an accordion folder stuck in a corner of the same drawer. Tape and scissors are in various drawers in my kitchen and home office. need to give some thought to how and what exactly I want to organize in this new space. Hadn't really considered whether paper should be displayed on dowels or tucked into drawers, or whether a hutch and a flat table are a good combination etc. Had no idea Home Depot carried a Martha Stewart gift wrap storage line. Thinking maybe IKEA would be a resource since they seem to have a lot of modular storage type pieces. So this will be a fun mental puzzle with a decorating slant--hurray!...See Morejlouise54
