Mine is 65", and only has a wall on one side, but I'm still very happy that we converted from one sink to two. I shared your concerns, but for us, this arrangement is working out well. First, we have a small bathroom, and storage space is limited, so I purchased oversized medicine cabinets. They are not elegant, but they take the stress off of limited counterspace. Second, we "tweaked" the location of the sinks a little, which made a big difference. Ours is a fairly standard dual vanity, with a bank of drawers in the center, and a cabinet on each end, each holding the sink. Normally with this set-up, the sinks are each centered over the cabinet on each end, so you have only a few inches of counterspace on the ends, but lots in the middle. Rather than having the sinks centered over the outer cabinet (so that the middle of the sink is lined up with where the doors meet), our sinks are actually slightly set *inward*. My contractor had to cut into the "walls" of the center drawer bank a little to pull this off. He thought I was crazy, but it makes a big difference- if we had not done this, I'd constantly be elbowing the wall and feeling crowded. If you have a wall on each side, I think it's even more of an issue. This might be easier to visualize with a photo..... The last thing I did was get fairly small sinks. How much room does it take to wash hands? I found American Standard sinks that are 11x14, but still 5" deep. (I like the depth for the occasional handwashing of a small delicate garment.) The sinks are small enough that the counter feels very roomy. Try going into a showroom where they have stock 60" dual vanities, and stand in front of it imagining a wall on each side. For me, it is workable, but only with the sinks custom fit like we did.....just something to think about!

There was a similar silver colored tool packed with my vanity light fixtures and it is for tightening/ loosening a plastic ring that holds the glass shade in place. It is another place were you can't get your fingers in so you need the tool if you need to remove the shade for any reason. If your fixture has glass shades look inside for a ring holding the shade.

You could consider using one of those basin sinks, which rest on top of the counter. that would maximize your sink size. Another possibility is putting the faucet on the backsplash area, which is very common and popular now, either with a basin type, or standard style. I'm dealing with a similar issue in my planned renovation because I want a narrow counter to open up the space in the bathroom. To be completely honest, I'm not particularly a fan of the backsplash faucet because I just know that sooner or later my faucet would need some work that would involve breaking the backsplash tiles. But I'm the queen in the land of Murphy's Law. Other people are very happy with that style.

Hi all, I am very familiar with zellij tiles, review and installation of them and have already explained install to the tile guy and plan to be there at install. Per Patricia's comment, to each his own and it is ultimately a taste/preference thing, but I will say that I have consulted with several high-end and in-demand interior designers in Los Angeles who have ALL agreed with me on this bathroom, so with respect, thanks but I am going with this design. I would have hired them but $$$$ so I count myself lucky to have gotten any feedback for free! I would love to custom design the vanity (and I expect I'll have to because of my space constraints) and that's why I posted here, to see if anyone can suggest some complementary designs for a vanity. Danish? Modern? Transitional? Industrial? Pics?? Thank you!!!
