Honed quartzite kitchen counter. Help
Comments (9)Most honed surfaces are more difficult to clean than their polished counterparts. Their texture tends to trap dirt and oils. I would try a degreaser like Coastal to see if it will remove it, but it is a preview for how much work this counter will be for you to maintain. Using harsh cleaners will also strip the sealer. Oiling it isn't a solution as it will take unevenly and be blotchy. Not to mention that the oil will attract and hold dirt. Oil on soapstone evaporates rather than soaks in like it would on quartzite. "Interior" use isn't use as a counter. It's for use as wall cladding some place that doesn't get the use that a counter will get. I would recommend removing it now before the grout and thinset harden even more. Replace it with laminate if you have to if you're on a budget. Even a smooth laminate would be easier to care for that a honed quartzite counter....See More1950s Kitchen Counter Help, Opinions wanted!

We used them them for our green bathroom and we are doing a pink and aqua bathroom this summer- they have just the right shades of pastel!...See MoreKitchen Counter Help - Maple Cabinets and Walnut Floors
Comments (11)The previous owner of our house also decided to replace the kitchen countertops (encouraged by the realtor) just before listing. I absolutely hate the countertop she picked. We offered less than asking price & they took it. I can't bring myself to tear out brand new counters, at least not yet. I would have been thrilled to have gotten an allowance to pick my own. The allowance might get you a great offer as opposed to people offering less or walking away from something they didn't like....See MoreKitchen counter help
Comments (3)I’d probably put one of the light corian selections or a basic light granite. Then in truth I’d spend more time looking for a great backsplash to alleviate those shadowy receding corners. Your backsplash will also set things visually for the very tall height of the cab doors. Get all that working together. What type of lighting do you have?...See Morerebunky
