They make great shrub plantings as they're evergreen. In my neighborhood you don't see them too often except around nicely landscaped offices and malls, and the houses of the apparently well-to-do. They are very expensive here, a yucca sold in a 10" pot is usally about $20-$30, the larger the yucca the more expensive they are. Yuccas are very choice plantings for xeriscape gardens, once they're established you don't have to water them. Every year you can remove the browned leaves at the base of the plant whcih doesn't take a long time and makes it tidy looking. Sometimes they make new "pups" which can be snapped off and transplanted with high success rate. I agree that they have die-hard roots and will come back from small root pieces, so do choose your site wisely for them. Other than the spring clean-up to remove the browned leaves, and cutting off the spent bud stalk, they're practically maintainence free. T

as if you hollowed out a broad area in which you created a smaller raised one. ==>>> yes.. the water retaining moat FOR A NEW TRANSPLANT... i dont care if and when it filled back in.. the tree would be free range by then ... all plants will adjust to their location.. given time ... presuming you can get them established with enough water ... yes its a very light slope.. but you have to water the darn transplants ... and you cant do that on a hill .... if you dont make a moat ... yucca.. will probably never need water after the first year .. dont overthink this drought resistant plant ... to be clear ... im telling you water is the most important variable with a transplant ... and its not easy to water on a hill ..... you seem to want to focus on other variables ... the first year.. all i care about.. is that they live.. they will adjust the next year.. but you can surely understand.. that i would not plant a tree or conifer.. on the angle of the slope .. so why would any other plant.. be planted that way ... unless you had some goal for something weird and unique ... ken

Hello, I'm new to the forum! I have come here as I need help saving my indoor Yucca plant. The leaves are drooping and also having this strange effect occur on the leaves themselves. There is new growth at the top however. This has been happening in the last week or so and we've lost a few leaves already. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you very much. Steve
