I would look for a rug you like first. Green, brown or rust would work. Blue will make the wood look more orange. Since you're buying three pieces, the sofa shouldn't match the chairs.

We went with deep teal/peacock in our pine cabin. It works surprisingly well. This photo is not our cabin lol. Actually our sofa is dark brown but the easy chair is teal and the drapes are peacock. Our carpet is off white with some teal and some green. Looks nice...similar to these photos.

I think I like the sofa color on the top right corner the most (although you mentioned that you don't like white or cream). I recommend making a mood board so you can pick rug, sofa and chairs together. Top left is West Elm sofa and the rest are Article - can't vouch for quality of these sofas, just want to see how different colors will work in your living room.

As stated above, no gray with all this wood. I like the big windows/doors. Which way do they face? Will you get a lot of sun shining in those windows?

Green would be beautiful in that space. Doesn’t have to be emerald. Sage or olive would be great too.

Turquoise was the first color that popped into my head .I love MCM and for sure no browns or blacks in that. space for furniiture I do not buy rugs first almost alwyas they are my last item to add to a space . If you are planning on painting some of those walls then be prepared for a big job maybe start with the kitchen and see if you need to paint the walls I do not love pine but you have lots of nice light and windows . I think once you add all MCM furniture it will have a much different feel.

Select the rug first. That will point you in the direction of the upholstery pieces.

Agree that a green couch will work well in that house.

That area would look lovely with some greenery. not required to be emerald. white and cream would be an excellent option.

If you don’t like the strong beautiful colored couches posted and think you prefer a neutral, the color statements can be your rug and chairs. Any neutral colored couch and a deep Persian rug will also give you color in a log home.

But I still vote for the deep navy or dark emerald couches posted.

Olive green is a great option too….I have always loved black accents in a log cabin style home.

Olive green would be my first choice. I would add a light area rug with the colors of the room in it. I love leather chairs, so that would be my next choice. As mentioned above. I have a very active house hold, so everything needs to be stain resistant, easy to clean and durable.
Make mood boards with all the colors that you love and there will be one you will be drawn to. Your home, your happiness.

Right now with the current design trends we are seeing lots of earth tones to include olive green and rusted orange if you want a pop of color. What we have found with our clients is that we tend to select a neutral color for the sofa and the accent chairs will either be a bold solid with some texture or some fun patterns.

There are a lot of great fabric solutions out there in this day and age that are considered kid and pet friendly. If you want to select something with a lighter shade but are worried about staining and wear and tear, you would be safe with doing a Sunbrella or Crypton based fabric. These fabrics are made to be extremely durable, water and stain resistant, and easy to clean. We would strongly suggest selecting a Crypton or Sunbrella fabric in a busy and active household!

Otherwise, leather is always a good option because it cleans easily and ages nicely over time as long as you are selecting authentic leather and not a vinyl type match.

I think a mid century modern direction would work very well in this style of home, in the meantime, we found some mood boards with color schemes we think would be lovely in this home! Hopefully all of the advice you are getting from this discussion is helping you feel inspired!

We also have a vacation home, our arrangement in the living room works well, we have a sofa, a chair and a half with ottoman, and 2 director chairs. The director chairs can be easily moved to the dining table when we need more seating. We also have a cocktail table on casters, which can then be easily pushed aside for the dogs or kids to play. Everyone loves the chair and a half. Our sofa is gray, if I had to do it over again, I would get a slipcovered off white sofa.

I have a Chair and a Half at our home and would love one at the vacation home but I don’t think we have enough room. Everyone wants to sit in that chair so comfy I like the director’s chair idea and the coffee table on casters

I was thinking of doing the chairs in leather but it snows there and I am worried about leather being cold. I have never had leather so any input is appreciated

My only concern with leather is the tendency for some leather to get scratched. Renters will not be careful with your things, a performance fabric that hides dirt may be best. When we rented out in the past, I would accent the place with nicer things that I could store in the owners closet when the renters were there.
Enjoy you new vacation home, it’s been the best family investment we have made, so much great family time.

Thinking outside the box: (because I love this sofa, on sale, from Arhaus). I would like to see a similar tone of the wood walls and ceiling in a bit of the furnishings and art.
