Schiedeana and juncea are two of the drier loving Tillandsias. Schiedeana is especially prone to rot in the crown when over-misted. The leaves will show a green banding near the base where the trichomes have been erased. Juncea also needs only infrequent misting. Take Mad's advice about replacing them with different genera. Tillandsias like air circulation too much to be grown in terreras.

Hi The pic shows about half of it . I used sheet styrofoan siliconed to the CBS wall. . The goal was to look like a natural 'seep wall such as seen in tropical mountains rather than tree trunks . The great advantage to the "stuff' is that the entire 7x10 foot wall weighs less than a pound reinforcement is not necessary. water was pumped from aquarium and released over the length of the "wall" at the bottom was a catch area where it overflowed into the tank.. The big failure to the setup was growth. the plants covered the wall withinn two months and the epis. started eating into the foam diverted the water flow . had I been smart would have put a sheet of plastic over the styrofoam and put the stuff on top of that.lol If I were to do it over again would use "high expanding" stuff rather than high density .carving and fancy paint jobs were useless as every square inch was covered by plants lol Would not have foamed over plastic pots to create "pockets" but would have carved them in where needed The plants particularly the epis grew beautifully in the stuff potting materials unneeded. One other point , would more carefully plan the planting layout as many plants were quickly covered by others , Also would have used miniature types and kept the planting area MUCH smaller and added sections as it developed.. needed aLOT more planning than I gave it !!! gary

Wow, that's a lot of plants! I don't have a list of what I'm growing in my little gardens -- sometimes it takes me a couple of weeks in the spring to realize that that weird looking weed in the corner is something I've had for years. I just assume that more plants than not will grow in this area! One of the more unusual plants I grow is agapanthus. Not a particularly hardy variety, this was simply a florists' plant my mother gave me four years ago. But it's come up reliably every year for the past three seasons in Central Ohio. It's planted against a south-facing brick wall with excellent drainage, and apparently doesn't realize it's not in zone 8+ anymore! One of my mother's more spectacular plants is a 15 year old calamondin orange that arrived as a little "get-well" houseplant. It spends the winter on the unheated glassed in back porch in Cincinnati, and now stands over 6' tall in the pot, and is nearly 4' around. It always has flowers and fruit on it, and we've picked 200 ripe fruits at one time.

Checker, they are Gorgeous!! Excellent pics too! It's not very warm in my house during winter, and our heat doesn't dry the air, so once a once-a-week misting seems to do fine. When plants are outside, I do get them wet more often, 3-4x per week. Yes, Christy, that's what I did with mine. The smaller one, T. ionantha, has attached some roots to the Dracaena trunk, after a few years. I'm not in love with the placement of the biggest one, it could change if I get another idea.
