Dosage of multi-vitamins?
Comments (6)Lucky; After taking all kinds of different "herbal" multi-vitamins from my herb store, I recently heard that for women, centrum is the best...100% USRDA of everything, and 30% vit. K (you don't want more than 30%). So I went back to taking my original one centrum a day, I don't particulary believe you should take 2, but I think your body gets rid of any extra nutrients it doesn't need through waste anyway, so I wouldnt imagine it would be harmful. Cheers, Michele...See Morequestion about taking antioxidents and vitamins
Comments (7)Do you have a health store in your area with a trained nutritionist? They would be able to help you figure out what is safe for you, they can probably recommend a supplement that has most, if not all of these in it. One of the GNC's in our town is staffed only by trained nutritionists, no college kids like the others. They are incredibly helpful. Ask at the store if there is someone available who is trained in nutrition or vitamin therapy. It does not look like there is anything there that will hurt you, but it is always best to check with someone who knows before putting something you are unsure of in your body!...See MoreWhat Vitamins do you Take?
Comments (24)Anyway, Kelly - wow! Your weight loss is quite an accomplishment! What type diet did you follow? Biotin is good for your nails too isn't it? Can you tell a difference there? Tina, I first started on Weight Watchers and exercise but even though I had wonderful success I decided that I wanted to know more about the calories and nutrients I was putting into my body. I switched to using an online journal (myfooddiary.com) that gives me more detailed info including what percent of my calories are coming from fat/carbs/protein. I'm doing some serious weight lifting and need to keep my protein up to 30-35%. My total calories that I eat everyday is based on my resting metabolic rate and the calories I burn through working out. If I have a light workout day I eat fewer calories. When I'm really on top of things and meeting my daily goals I can easily lose 2.5 to 3lbs per week. Biotin is great for nails and hair as well as boosting the metabolism. I have a hypothyroid and starting taking medication a year ago and my hair fell out badly. It's still not back to the way it was but is a little thicker. Yes, the niacin reaction is immediate. I don't get the hot flash feeling or flushing (which is weird because I am very fair and flush very easily). My rash is/was a ring around my neck and slightly raised. It took a little over a week to go away....See MoreDo you take medications or vitamins every day?
Comments (21)Just vitamins, no prescription meds. Well, take that back I'm still on an antibiotic for a tick bite, and have one week to go. Dr. wanted me to go on B/P meds for an elevated B/P but I refused. They need to teach their employees how to take a proper blood pressure The proper way to take a blood pressure as I understand the concept is: -Before the test, sit for five minutes with your back supported and your feet flat on the ground. -Rest your arm on a table at the level of your heart. Wear short sleeves so your arm is exposed. ... Get two readings, taken at least two minutes apart, and average the results. I told the Dr. that being in pain with a broken toe, and sitting on the exam table with my feet dangling and no back support could not possibly get an accurate reading! No thank you, no meds. I do monitor my B/P at home and sometimes it's a little high and other times okay. No way was I going on meds with huge side effects due to one or two readings done in their office and not done properly. She kept preaching to me how dangerous it is, and I informed her that I know all about that, being in the medical field for over 50 years and a RN for 30 years. I've always had my patients sit in a chair with feet on floor. Many would sit and cross their legs and be surprised when I would tell them not to cross their legs and put feet flat on floor. So how do they take your blood pressure when you go to the DR?...See MoreStax
