Removable Peel and Stick countertop contact paper but you'll have to use a cutting board on it to keep it from getting cuts. It comes in tons of dif patterns and colors.

Get a panel of 4x8 luann wood or manufactured wood paneling from the hardware store, cut to size, spray it black or gray and stick it to the front of the island with a couple of pieces of Alien Tape. Use brass decals on it or DIY paint some gold and red scrollwork with a fine brush.

IR factories had natural wood floors similar to yours, you can see alot of photos of them that are converted to living spaces with the original wood still intact. Yes you can mix dark woods with light floors.

Okay, I'm glad you like my idea. I can understand that it may not be feasible to implement for various reasons.

To answer your question, since the apartment is basically a blank neutral slate, I think you can bring in your furniture and decor and in any colors you wish without clashing with anything.

Marble and wood have been in use for centuries and through many design eras.

I wonder if more of a modern sleek theme would look better!

Oh my gosh, you really are at an early stage. Do you have any existing pieces of art or decor you own you like? You need something to use as inspiration. Favorite colors?

The best idea is to start hunting for an area rug you love and use that to pull its style and colors into the space. You might look at a lot of rugs but you will find something that strikes a chord with you.

Imagine the living room with your seating and an extra large coffee table or ottoman for them. Then choose a rug size that will fit them all or at least the front legs of the seating. Generally the bigger the rug, furniture and coffee table the better.

Post better photos so we can do a mock-up to show you some ideas.

You can definitely bring in blacks and metals. And cement finishes… I don’t think it’ll lean as industrial as you would if the existing finishes were there, but I think you can still blend the two styles together.

It’s a beautiful looking apartment! With beautiful features. I would not cover anything up with peel and stick. Work with the existing and lean towards your style. So it feels cohesive and homey for you.

Is there any way I can post a video walkthrough I have of the place? The place is not big at all. It’s a 1 bedroom apartment. In a dream world, my idea was to make it super vintage/industrial with Watson lightbulbs and pipe-looking lamps and things like that. Very bronze-esk. I’d love to send you guys a clear 1 minute video of the place. I have no furniture at all yet! And get to start from scratch!

No video. It's easier to mock up stills. Just get clear photos in all directions in each room you want ideas. I Googled gray and gold modern area rugs, and gray/black and gold Greek keyhole area rugs. Like I said you could go through a lot of patterns and colors before you find one that clicks.

OMG I just Googled "steampunk area rug". You gotta try this one!

Here are some modern and vintage industrial touches in lighter less heavy colors or look that would go with the light tones in your space.
