Woodworking Flooring Bedroom

Should I be annoyed by this bit of my wood flooring?

I bought rustic grade engineered wood flooring (should have done my research and gone for prime grade!) and one particular floorboard in my new flat is irritating me as it looks out of place colour-wise. Can others see it too or am I being overly picky? Any suggestions on how to fix?

I don’t see whatever it is that is annoying you in the circle. It’s wood. Wood has variation

I think because that particular floorboard (far left) is a more orange tone compared to the others. But perhaps I’m being overly picky!

GreenDesigns -- thanks once again for your always-incisive and helpful comments. I did not think to use tempered glass. Thanks for that catch! Actually, I am not using an island hood, but rather a wall-mounted Miele DA-249. I thought about using an island hood for ease of installation, but I need/want to vent out of the wall above the window. I am "engineering" (too strong a word!) a mounting bracket that will hang down the few inches needed into the window area. Weissman, Stooxie, rat, and Caddidaddy, thanks for your comments. It is great to get input from people with actual experience with the issue in question, rather than my trying to just guess. I appreciate it. Seems like I can safely go either way. Thanks, again.

My oak floors are 25 years old and look great. I wipe up spills, spot clean, and not much else. I was once cautioned against using Bona products because they eventually leave a dull film, so I do not use them. Kitchen chairs have those felt pad bottoms. I have pets with nails, and had kids at home (now grown). About 12 years ago, I had the oak refinished, as it was time, and I don’t plan to refinish again now that the kids are gone. I do not worry about the floors, or give them much thought. We are a no-shoes-inside house, though that is not because of the wood floors, but that has probably helped in keeping the floors looking good. I like oak floors better than any other kind of floor for a kitchen, especially tile (cold climate here). Just MHO.

You've got some nice wood pieces. Did your father make most all of them? Regarding the paint color. I always feel paint color should be decided once everything is selected. I'm guessing that the Builder has a couple of paint selections that were chosen to go with the finishes that are being offered so if I were you at this point I would make notes as you are doing but wait to see what you select for the other finishes and then see if the Builder's paint colors will work for you. If none of them do, at that point you can determine if you are going to "up-grade" (he may not even offer the opportunity for you to stray from the color choices) or just paint the walls a non-descriptive color and have them painted later with your own painter. When is your meeting at the Design Center?

On my screen, the boards circled in red are the same. The board circled in blue is the odd man out in the entire photo. None of them bother me

Color looks fine, but is it flush? On my screen it appears to not be even with the bordering planks.

"Rustic" in commercial flooring is defined by variation in color and texture (grain). In engineered flooring they do it on purpose. You probably paid extra for that!

Flush in flooring means smooth and evenly flat, from plank to plank.

@littlebug zone 5 Missouri @Jennifer Svensson Thanks for the explanation! Yes, sadly it’s flush - I had the board originally in that spot replaced as it was very dark. Is there a way to fix this? If I remove and reapply, would I risk damaging the board?

Looks fine to me. The only thing that looks a bit odd to me are the two adjacent light-colored boards just next to what you circled. Rustic flooring definitely requires attention to where different hued pieces are laid, and I would not have put two nearly-identical and overly light pieces next to each other.
