I just sold my home 2 months ago so do not know the model number but I had the 30" Jenn air double oven. Purchased 2004. I did call them out the first month because the baking element in the top oven did not work. They came out in a few days and fixed it. It was still under warranty. Baked fine no problems until the control board went out in 2006. Expensive to fix. The repair guy told me those go out all the time in all the models like Maytag, GE, Whirlpool, KA so I bought the warranty. Worked fine after that. I moved 2 months ago so asume it still works fine. Never used the warranty but if I didn't have it would probably have gone out. I would purchase for $2100. but would buy an extended warranty for when the control board goes out.

Well our kitchen certainly doesn't have the WOW factor that many of these beautiful kitchens on this forum have. Our criteria was that we wanted a clean, new kitchen but without the price tag. I can't comment on the Savanah doorstyle with Butterscotch but can tell you that i have had these cabs from American Woodmark for almost 4 years and they have held up beutifully so far. We went with hickory cabs since we have 3 kids (i don't even think i have 1 dent in these things since hickory is one of the harder woods although may not be to everyone's taste cause of the variation in wood). We ended up spending only $6,500 for the cabs and had them install which was about another $2000 or so but wanted to be sure they were done right. The whole remodel came to $28,000 so ours wasn't top of the line either, especially when the average cost of a kitchen remodel is somewhere around $45,00, YIKES!!!! Good luck with your choices. "is it worth it to get a vented hood? Would it the cost and hassle be worth it or should we just get some sort of non vented hood?" In my experience a non-vented hood will catch some of the grease that is carried by the hot air that is pulled through your filter but it will do nothing for smoke. Catching some of the grease is better than nothing but only you can decide whether that meets your needs. I Depending on where you live, current code may also require you to vent outside. Though that probably would not apply to you until you did more involved renovations that required a building permit. Any chance that you can use your $700 budget to buy a vented hood that matches the style of your kitchen and you DIY the installation?

I've also been looking into Fotile hoods, and am not sure I know enough to understand their HVI certification numbers. I downloaded all the HVI certified hoods and test numbers from the HVI site, and while not the claimed 850-1000 CFM, Fotile fans in general seem to have excellent performance, particularly when compared to other hoods. (IIRC, all range hood companies I've looked at report higher CFM than HVI.) Here are three Fotile fans I've looked at (all tested using 6" vertical ducting and SP 0.1): EMG9030 (36" wall): boost speed, 660 CFM, 7.5 sones, 223 watts low speed, 280 CFM, 1.2 sones, 29 watts JQG9001 (36" under cabinet): high speed, 520 CFM, 6 sones, 256 watts low speed, 230 CFM, 1.2 sones, 85.5 watts JQG7505 (30" under cabinet): boost speed, 580 CFM, 7.5 sones, 143 watts low speed, 220 CFM, 1.2 sones, 20 watts Note that I’ve not included all tested speeds, just highest and lowest. I've also been considering Zephyr (they're in HVI, so I can compare) and Vent-a-Hood (not in HVI, so I can't). Here’s a Zephyr I’m considering (tested using 8” vertical ducting): AK7637AS (36” wall): high speed at SP 0.1, 650 CFM, 10 sones, 305 watts working speed at SP 0.005, 150 CFM, 0.6 sones, 17.5 watts A couple other other typical fans: Dacor DHD30M700WS chimney hood, 6” duct, SP 0.1, boost speed 480 CFM, 10 sones, 451 watts Best ICB3I36BLSB chimney, 8” duct, SP 0.1, high speed 580 CFM, 11.5 sones, 350 watts If I compare like speeds, for any fan I’ve looked at, the Fotile always seems to look quite good, with less noise and power consumption, and typically with smaller ducting. Am I missing something here, or might Fotile be a good range hood for me?
