Why do you have the FR all squished in that space when you have DR so move the FR back into that space that is empty .

Probably because there is no open wall for tv and seating would be too far away if they moved it back. Challenging space…

We put a cute small desk behind our sectional sort of like a sofa table to fill a bit of the area. How about another seating area in that area? Is that a wheaten terrier 🙃?

The issue is that the sectional is too large for the space.

I recommend, if you can removing pieces of the sectional. Better yet, transform it into a sofa and add 2 chairs. Move the sofa back a little from the tv.

Do you use the fireplace? If not, I recommend closing it in and buying a large tv that you can put over a console.

The brick wall/pillar seems so odd to me. The ceiling beam is lost against the brick. Have you given thought to painting the brick?

For furniture, I’d do what Beverly suggests but with one side arranged toward the fireplace and the other side arranged toward a tv.

I don’t know what is the size of your room, but here is suggested way of placing your sofa.

Thank you for the ideas- I should mention that we need to maintain a walkway between the french doors and the kitchen- that is a high traffic area for my family (and my wheaten :)) 1. We definitely will paint the beams and brick…eventually. 2. We use our fireplace and have no desire to change it or the tv.

I like the idea of a smaller sectional- we have 3 kids and we use our couch a lot though, so I dont know what to do. i need a new couch for sure.

I would use a sofa and 4 swivel

chairs and a table behind the sofa with stools.

So, sofa would face the tv. There would be 2 sets of chairs, facing each other.

Behind the sofa, add a console table with chairs.

Can you move sectional back and towards patio doors by about a foot each and then green chair could be moved into seating area to feel less awkward. Suggest grounding the seating area with a rug and update cushions to reflect a more casual feel.

Consider the width you need for a thoroughfare and I’m sure you have enough room to take advantage of the far wall and room in general will feel more balanced. Think about what would best suit your kids‘ needs: a cozy reading area or desk for example.

There are a lot of random items on the walls; perhaps consider more complementary, larger and placing lower.

The last idea😊 is aiming for a less broken up focal wall, feeling more balanced, grounded and interesting. Your room will be transformed and if sectional is in good shape, I‘d spend the money on the room.
