elux icon or ka speed cook / wall oven combo
Comments (17)Just a note, in case anyone is considering the Elux Icon "Professional" style High Speed Oven because of its styling. The AJ Madison site, as well as a couple of other appliance sellers online have photos of the Icon high speed oven which DO NOT represent the actual oven. Their photos make the design look substantially better IMO. The actual oven has the door window considerably narrower than the controls window or the handle. The mysteriously revised photo shows the oven door window equal in width. We've called Elux today, and one of the online dealers, and no one can explain the two different photos. All the photos indicate the same Model number. The dealer says it's a generic photo given to them by Elux. And Elux says they have no idea what the photo is. Here's a link to Google Images for Icon Pro High Speed oven which will pull up many examples showing the window both narrow and wide. The NARROWER window is the real thing according to Elux. Too bad, because it does not match the width of the single wall oven. We were hoping that the wider window is a new revised version coming up, but Elux denies it. Comments (1)I'm getting a miele single oven and am considering the miele speed oven as well. Seems like most people are happy with it, although there are some remarks about difficulty in cleaning. I've had a difficult time getting information on just how fast it cooks. Can it make a chicken in 20 minutes like the Advantium 240 or TurboChef?...See MoreWhy can't I install my speed cook oven under counter
Comments (14)I am WAY behind on this conversation but it's relevant to me now so I'm hoping maybe some of you can comment on how this has worked out for you. We purchased the Electrolux ICON microwave a couple years ago for our kitchen remodel. We had planned for it to go under counter. Installation day came and the installer saw the 36" above ground spec and even though could not come up with any reason as to why did not feel comfortable installing. So, we ended up getting a Sharp microwave drawer instead which was fine but I had really wanted the "2nd oven" since we were taking out wall ovens and replacing with a single stand alone range. Anyway, we were unable to return the ICON which was a pretty painful mistake at $1600+ !! I've tried to sell it on OfferUp, NextDoor but no luck. Now we are in a different house and undertaking another complete kitchen remodel. We made plans to install another microwave drawer in the island but we've discussed the situation of the Electrolux to see if there's any way we can use it instead. It's still in the box on the pallet it arrived on. Our kitchen designer and installers could not figure it out either and the designer even called Electrolux and the person he spoke to couldn't figure it out and said they didn't see any problem with it but that it wouldn't be covered under warranty if we installed it there. I'm not thinking this is a big deal because we're already out of the warranty period anyway. I just called Electrolux myself to see if I got the same answer. She didn't say anything about the warranty but said that it was an ergonomic or burn issue. Personally, I don't see how bending down to get something out of the microwave at this height is any different to getting something out of a regular oven (which is actually even lower and deeper!). Any new comments?...See MoreTurbochef Speed cook oven
Comments (2)the turbo chef doesn't work as a microwave, sorry. as for my micro, i'm keeping my old space saver by GE and my cabinet maker is making a cabinet for it. when i need a new one i just replace it. i was originally intending to purchase a 60" capital range, but after testing out the turbo chef i am buying the 48" capital and getting the turbo chef for installation in our island. with a family with two small children i'm considering the turbo chef our primary oven. kids don't like waiting, you know. as for holidays, i don't plan to put my thanksgiving turkey in the oven until the guests have all arrived. i'm tired of dried out meat! never again....See Moredan1888
