Apple tree doing poorly
Comments (3)Bob: If the graft looks ok, I might tend to suspect a bacterial disease like fireblight or a virus. I don't know enough about viruses to be more precise, but I know both fireblight and virus can be transmitted through grafted nursery stock. I would probably take it out. I have a mature Albemarle Pippin that has been producing pretty good apples for a number of years, though it is a little more of a shy bearer than the modern varieties. These trees, and most of the others, are on M-7. Don Yellman, Great Falls, VA...See MoreWhat's happening to my pear and apple tree leaves?
Comments (3)The first picture didn't seem so bad. Just the effects of growing in the sun, rain and wind. Maybe a bit of fungus here, a bit of wind damage there, a hungry caterpillar maybe and a burnt leaf or two. The second picture is more serious. You have a deer. It (or they) is very likely to return again and again, especially as we go into summer and tender, green vegetation becomes scarcer. Expect return visits for all remaining green leaves....See MoreApple Tree Disease

If it where an older tree that had been in the ground for a few years you would be cutting the watering back even more than that. Just leave it alone and let nature take its course....See MoreRelated Professionals
