It seems my hosta are waking up all on their own. In south AL, this is probably the best time for them, if it could be like this the rest of the year, they'd do pretty well, I'm thinking. I took pictures today intending to drop a few into the Alphabet Soup posts. But...might as well show how large some of them are already. Of course, some are still dormant, with signs of green roots going everywhere in the pot. Do not know what this one is. It was dug out of the ground in November in MA zone 5b/6a and brought south dormant. The H.'Fragrant Blue' is looking good to me, never heard of it but figured a 'Fragrant' name meant it would do good down here. So far so good. H.'Lederhosen' was also one dug and shipped south, sitting in a pot this last winter. How about trying to bring them into a coolish sun porch where the air is not too dry?

Hi Kristi, I must have been on the tail end of ordering the garden ones cuz they didn't come with as many offsets as I thought they would. It doesn't really matter cuz the bulbs were quite healthy and as soon as the roots were re-hydrated, they took off. There are probably 4 or 5 scapes per pot and as soon as everything flowers, I post pictures. Warm Regards, Fred

Well, according to Al; 1- No need to add lime to last years potting soil. So I would just refurbish it is broken down too much. 2- Use a CRF with 3-1-2 ratio or close to it. AND possibly with calcium if you plant to plant tomatoes and peppers.in them In that category I am familiar with MG Shak-n-Feed (w/ tomato picture on it, not all purpose). Seysonn

This all sounds so familiar but I found some ways around most of my problem but not all of my problem. For work I wake up around 6 a.m. weather I fall asleep at 10:30 pm or 1 a.m. Very often it is much to closer to 1 a.m. I have a hyperactive bladder that rears its bladder head the minute I plan to go to sleep. I just listened to a Google talk all about how bad it is all the way around to not get it around 7 or 8 hours of sleep. How you look is affected as well. Getting 8 hours of sleep is truly is a beauty sleep that you miss out on. He says our hearts are involved that up all sorts of other illnesses like Alzheimer's and stuff like that are somehow connected to sleep. Oh woe is me I can't seem to do anything about that my hyperactive bladder and getting more sleep as I have to go to work. I don't have a problem actually falling asleep once I get to bed. In general I don't tend to mull over things. My mantra is I will plan and take care of that in the morning. Most of the time I will end up taking care of whatever it is that is plaguing me. That has helped the worrying part of me to trust the planning and execution part of me and it helps me to silence my mind and go to sleep. I tell myself if I'm inundated with bad or negative memories or even just lots of ruminating that these are memories of memories and they are in the past and they don't belong in the present with me right now. Unless I'm writing my memoirs. Which nobody would want to read :-). Of course I try to use my memories in constructive ways to remind myself not to do that again. You can tell I'm by myself too much!
