Sherry, The clematis is about 4' from the base of the rose. The space between the shed and trellis is only about 2' to 2.5. The clematis is about halfway between the shed and trellis. Although, the plot is part of a larger bed, the area I'm referring to is about 10'x2' smaller than what looks like in your photo. I wouldn't worry about the shade. I'm far from an expert on clematis, i've killed a few PS is my only true success, but convential wisdom is the roots like to be in shade; the vine likes the sun, but eventually the vine will find sun. One of my vines gets very little sun at it's base. Polish Spirit is a heavy bloomer but is not for a normal shrub because it get's very large. I made that mistake and the reason I have 2 is that it split when I moved it. I wouldn't plant PS any closer than 3' from the base of the rose. I'd be inclined to try one at one end of your arbor like near where the liriope is now. PS is dark purple, it may look nice with the pink. If it doesn't work you can always remove like it did. Moving it for me was a little difficult because it was only about 1' foot from the original rose, but the vine itself reestablished without much ado. I think the risk is rather small. Other rose plantings I've successfully tried: I have two ferns (a japanese painted and an autumn fern) a couple feet near another large rose (Traviata) in filtered sun. Both seem to be happy, happier than alot of others under more conventional conditions. In another bed I have hardy plumbago growing around 2 azaleas, The Dark Lady, and Queen Elizabeth. The shrubs are all healthy and seem unaffected by the plumbago. Plumbago has a pretty loose root structure and I don't think either of the ferns I mentioned are particularly aggressive.

Ok are you talking the flywheel key or the blade adapter key?? Yep, the blade mount bolt being loose sometimes makes pretty good clank until the engine spins up and keeps pressure on it. then when you shut it down or grass puts pressure on it you hear that clank clank sound. I seen some with extra two bolts on the side holding it on to the blade adapter. This keeps the blade from spinning due to the adapter key. Ones with no outside bolts when the blade adapter bolt loosen it alows the blade to spin on the adapter which is held in place by the adapter key until the bolt gets so loose it alows the adapter to spin. By this time is should be making hella clanking sound. This bolt should be checked about every 10 hours or so and at least every oil change?!?

Both the Pandora and Slacker websites offer a similar wide range of music as Sirius. More importantly, each "broadcasts" at a higher bandwidth than Sirius so that the sound quality is noticeably better. For free. You can customize the sound streams you hear, creating your own "stations" by specifying which artists or groups should be played, something you can't do with Sirius. As a custom station is played, the listener can designate which songs are preferred (so they're played more) and which are disliked (so as to not be played again). Both also have pre-made stations to listen to, also by type and era. Both sites are accessed over the internet and have Smartphone apps by which they can be played in cars. Or, when you take a walk. Or, connected to whatever sound system you have at home. Or, on your PC. Or, can be played on a TV with whatever internet connectivity it uses.

Gorgeous pictures everyone, and I can't wait to see my Niles Cochet bloom this year. I was just out puttering in that area of the garden and both Niles and Maman Cochet have not only survived the zone 5 winter (a relatively mild one this year) but have a fair bit of surviving cane. Speaking as one who has zone pushed a lot of roses, including a good dozen teas that died or limped along, the Cochet family of teas looks to be the hardiest I've tried. Maman is at least 8 years old and blooms off and on during the season. I can only dream of teas like the one Jeri pictured but for other insane cold zone pushers the Cochet family is the most likely one in my experience to try. And they're lovely teas as well! Cynthia
