Comments (7)Thanks for your response. I agree to skip the under cabinet lights. I think I’ve decided to do 1 light over the shelf to the right of the stove, a light to the left of the sink and a light at the same height to the right of the sink. How does that sound? Alternately I could do a total of 5 lights - 2 to the right of the stove, 2 to the left of the sink, 1 to the right of the sink. I had a designer and an architect do drawings. The architect put the stove in the corner which I hated. I have a vintage Chambers stove that is 37.5” wide. There is literally no where else to put it. We have been through tens of iterations. We are going to do a ceiling vent (again I know it’s not ideal. I’ve read all about it but it’s what we have to do). If I put the stove on the wall where the sink is now it pushes the kitchen too far down into the dining area. If I put it where the refrigerator is I have to put the fridge down into the dining area - which I also don’t want to do. Why wouldn’t I be able to open the window? I was planning on doing a casement window over the stove so it can easily be opened. Here’s a pic of the kitchen now that it’s been demoed. We removed the wall between kitchen and dining room....See Morekitchen lighting help
Comments (9)You might be able to do disc lights instead of "traditional" recessed cans. Here's an example: 5 Colors, 12W, Natural Light, 6 in. Selectable Ultra Thin LED Downlight Fixture, Hardwire, 2700-3000-3500-4000-5000, 900 Lumens, 100W Incandescent Equal, Round, White Trim, Dimmable, 90 CRI, 120V, Halco 89094 | 1000Bulbs.com I just had discs put in my basement, they are a great problem-solver for tight spaces. The electrician said some people complain about glare, but I'm not really down there much to be a good judge of the amount of glare. Just mentioning as something to be aware of -- try to see them on display first....See MoreSmall Kitchen Lighting Help Needed
Comments (4)- Sink: It looks like there is an upper cabinet with an UCL. The UCL's are drawn as hardwired units. If so realize you will see the underside of the cabinet there (as it should be higher to give space for your forehead) and it's UCL. If continuing with a cabinet+UCL there, I'd still have a can light there. - Probably need a can over the exterior door area. - With the can by the door ^, then the cabinet section near it (2-30" cabs?) only needs 1 can. - You should have a can(s) for the ref and flanking Pantry/oven (?) which will also help light the entry openings. - If the exterior door is a back door entry then should probably have some 3-way switches. - Before you finalize lighting, and green light the cabinetmaker, it might be wise to evaluate your Kitchen layout. There is a pinch point and what looks like a 24" entry opening. Custom cabinets seems an unnecessary expense. - If this drawing is dictating electrical placement (as opposed to just for fun) then it needs to be reviewed....See MoreL C Pazanin
