P.S. Bobby Vee's is the one from Bye Bye Birdie - and he sings better than Conrad Birdie . I had no idea that anybody covered that song outside the play/movie.

Last night II had the strangest dream

Lars, One Last Kiss in the Bye Bye Birdie play and movie was sung by the actor in the Conrad Birdie role - the rock star leaving for the Army. Rydell was in the movie as the teenage boyfriend of the girl (Ann-Margaret) bidding Birdie goodbye. Rydell could have recorded the song outside of the Birdie productions as was the practice at the time - popular songs were recorded as covers by many artists, over and over. Sometimes it was hard to remember who'd done the original and sometimes, when multiple covers were released at the same time, the answer was - there was no original.

Same title as some songs posted above, but a very different song by an English singer from Liverpool.

As for "One Last Kiss," Bobby Vee released it as a single in April 1960, and the movie Bye, Bye, Birdie was released in 1963, but Dick Gautier released a version of the song April 14, 1960 - the same time as Bobby Vee, and Dick Gautier was in the original stage production 1960-61.

Ded's post reminded me of this gem from Woodstock. One of my faves - my parents had the album, and we listened to it often as kids
