Need to give this house an exterior facelift
Comments (34)The birch was allowed to grow past young age with a horrible structure, especially for its placement directly in line with the house center. Were it mine, I'd either want it to reform, in spite of the fact that it would need to go through an awkward period, or I'd want it gone. It is the bottom limbs branching off at 4' above the ground that looks so bad. I'd remove the two lowest every year until it was reformed....See MoreExterior Facelift for Garrison Colonial
Comments (2)What you have planned will go a long way! I would definitely remove the shutters but then beef up your window trim size. I would also add a larger column to the front porch. I see you painted the garage side door to match the entry door. However, I would paint the side-door and garage to match the siding --You don't want to highlight these, but rather make them blend in. I also think larger beautiful exterior lights will add a lot to your home. I've also loved arbors over garage doors, which I think will add a nice architectural element to your home....See MoreExterior colors and facelift ideas?
Comments (7)Hi Patricia, thank you so much for your thoughts! Yes, to the railing, absolutely. I would love to do black windows, but replacing isn’t an option as they are in great shape. I don’t think it is recommended to paint the exterior...they are vinyl Andersen 400. I’m not actually sure what look I want as I don’t really know what style the house is? Other than 1989 suburban builder? Real estate listing 12 years ago said “Contemporary Colonial” but when I look that up, they don’t look like mine. I would like it to look less dated and generic. Not very helpful, I know. Anyway, big fan of yours, thanks for posting....See MoreNeed lake house exterior ideas! paint color? deck updates? landscapes?
