Rain, Rain, Go away. I want to go out and play
Comments (4)I took advantage of the great weather today. It is a bit breezy and not as warm as yesterday but I opened up any milk jug that had sprouts so they could "harden up" and I took some of the ones that had just a few seedlings showing and transplanted them into 4 in. nursery pots. I've gathered what I have left to plant out and if temperatures drop tonight, I'll put them in the garage and bring them back out tomorrow. We have had so much rain that so many of them look so spindley. I pinched the blue flax back and that about killed me to do that. If weather is again nice like 60 and above, I'll work on planting some more out tomorrow. Can the wintersown seedlings survive 44-47 degrees?...See MoreBartBart and Lisa
Comments (11)Thanks for the comforting thoughts. I really do appreciate it. Our dogs are indeed part of the family, or maybe you could say they ARE our family. We have kids, but they are grown and with families of their own, so they aren't here. The puppies are always here, always willing to set with me any time I want or always willing to play, any time I want. And they never hurt your feelings.... These were old dogs. We picked them out of a litter of 12 that a nurse who worked with my sister had found in her pasture. Heeler/ lab cross is what we always figured. We brought them home to comfort the old boxer we had at that time who was lonesome for PJ, our doberman who had been killed in an accident. Sandy, the boxer, was not impressed. We named them for Bart and Lisa Simpson, of the TV show fame. It just seemed to fit. Lisa was the smart one, very reasoning and quick. Bart was laid back, absolutely the most honest dog I have ever known. He just did whatever, right in front of you. Lisa would wait until your back was turned, then climb over the fence of their little pen. LOL Having two from a litter is a challenge. Sandy did finally accept them, and they let her boss them around. When she died at the age of 16, they laid on her grave every day for almost a week. And now they are lying next to her. Memo, I am so sorry for your loss. At least I know what happened to my pups, you have the extra burden of not knowing for sure what happened to them. Are the new dogs puppies? I am sure they will grow on you- how can they not, with the personality that God gave Jack Russel Terriers? It just takes time. Again, thanks so much for your kind thoughts. Comments (4)I am happy for the rain! I have added some plants to my yard though. Several Rhodedendron's 2 wild ones, like those up in the mountains growing wild, with Large leaves, and get tree sized. They are local, but if you want to buy them, they are AT LEAST $35.00. If you try and dig one up in fall, they are free, but you get a small tree, with small root system, that is TINY for -ever! Or you fork over the $35.00 plus shipping $40.00 + for a 2 ft shrub, and be happy you got it at that size, and the price is fine once you realize you have a decent size shrub/tree for the price. I also got some cheap Rhodies at Lowes. Cheap but beautiful anyway's....See MoreRain, rain, go away
Comments (0)Much of Maryland and parts of Pennsylvania, Virginia & West Virginia continue getting drenched. Notice the deep red on the map is for 40 inches of rain over the past 180 days. Even spots of 50 inches are present. Hurricane Florence is forecast to stall over the southern Appalachians & could dump several feet of rain there....See MoreMelissa Northern Italy zone 8
