Can you help me make some contractor decisions tonight?
Comments (13)There is a 9" overhang on that side. We have a veneer panel for the entire overhang side. There are no plans that I'm aware of for drywall. Our previous cabs were 3" deeper than the new ones, so the wall fills in the hole in the floor tiles and gives us a whole extra cabinet due to pipes being brought down into the basement. Our granite slab is definitely large enough and it doesn't affect anything that we can see. The small l-shaped kitchen and island sit in a fairly large room. All the passageways to other rooms have the same width. I have an extra 4' x 8' piece of veneer panel that can be cut to cover both ends fully. But I thought something chunky would be good. I have frame and panel very plain shaker doors. I could order door end panels in this size. I could even bring a woodworker in here to bling up the whole thing with moldings and trim. DH wanted everything super-plain. This 'feature' is my chance to get something nicer. What would look the best? Budget isn't a problem....See MoreHelp! Comments (27)What Beverly shows you works well and looks terrific to start. The only thing I would change is the TV - change it to what katinparadise and rthawk described. The console your TV is on now is contributing to the visual clutter - and their solution will eliminate that and clear up that corner area. Your room looks so much better with the sectional moved to the long wall. That sofa table Bevs shows really works with that end of the sofa - so you can add a lamp and make the room even more cozy. I love the curtains Bev shows and the way to hang them so they don't crowd the window (high) and full. Good luck, have fun with your new room! Comments (3)I looked at your photos and wondered if you are in the Southwest, and immediately thought of xeriscaping, which is creating a space that uses very little water and suits its environment and is easy to care for. In such a garden there are one or more paths and sitting areas using bricks or flagstones or cobblestones or even very fine pebbles. The rest of the area is covered with mulch (there are some attractive mulches available now, finally) in which are planted the trees, bushes, and flowers. Watering is infrequent and there is no lawn to mow. I think that it's a beautiful look that would enhance your space and inspire your creativity. We changed our dismal front yard to xeriscaping and I am so happy with it that it's a major reason why I don't ever want to move. Here are some details about creating this kind of yard, but it can be considerably easier than the article suggests, especially since yours is so small. You could paint whichever walls you like and also the door; it would contribute a modern flair and additional interest. The great thing about paint is that it's pretty easy to change the color if you tire of it. I love the idea of growing one's own mint for mojitos!...See MoreHelp with master bedroom decor and furniture. Help to make cozy!
