Since you mention you are short of time, I think you should also post in the Home Decorating forum. It is a more active room so the replies come more quickly.

We painted our whole multi-floor townhouse (other than bathrooms and my daughter's bedroom) a single color, going with a shade of white that had a lot of yellow/orange, which was like letting in the sun everywhere! the painters even commented that it felt like we brightened the whole house, even though the average visitor would just see it as a white/near-white. If all your furniture is very cool toned, that might not work, but you could look for a warmer shade that still works -- like shift from gray toward taupe, or from khaki toward a lighter and yellower tone...

Looks like a charming home. If it faces south then look for cool colors. If north, then warm colors. I like a light blue for the ceiling. But the ceiling looks busy now with the small strapping. Could you sheet rock it to fill in between the beams? I would get more substantial drapery treatments. The sconces look too small; need taller ones. Move the furniture around for more functionality. Too many lamps. How about an area rug?

I agree with the above posters- I like the current white that you have it works great with your brown roof and the black windows.
