Our new build screened porch has a cement foundation that is about 1 1/2 ft or so high so we are able to walk out into it from the dining area without having any steps down. Ours is 11 X 14 ft. The wood used is cedar that has been stained. The door to the outside opens to an 8 X 16 ft grilling area.

Been having some difficulty finding a direct answer for what rug materials are safe for trex decking. I reached out to Trex directly asking them about polypropylene and they said to definitely not use that as a rug material as it could damage the deck over time... Our deck is covered and screened in so for the most part it's shielded from the elements... Anyone have any real experience using a rug on their trex or composite deck and have any ideas on what rug material to look for?

I prefer the look of stone or concrete on the inside so that it is easy to match the outside. Any time you start working with wood or wood look products outside, like Trex or Timberteck you start having to deal with wood changing colours. Either the OUTSIDE artificial product (Trex) will fade or the INSIDE wood (real stuff) will change. Something somewhere will change. That's why you will find many of these in-door/outdoor spaces will have some form of tile or stone as their flooring. Go ahead and google 'composite deck fading'. You will get thousands of hits. Either you accept this concern and PLAN for the fading (the interior wood mimics the faded look and wait for the match) of you ignore it and do the colours that make you feel good today...and try to find a way to live with the change when it happens.

Also what grade of cement should I be making sure they use and how thick should it be? Does 35psi and 4" thick with a brushed finished be the right thing to require? I too live in Florida and although all our kids combined do not live with us, we have grandchildren that will visit and have friends w/kids. We are also dancers and the patio will be used for dancing too, so we were looking for a non-slip material and one that stays cool in the heat. This is why we were looking at travertine. Can we find travertine that is under $10 a sq ft that can look modern? Preferably $7 a sq ft? If so, how would it be laid? I believe the total sq ft for around the pool and the patio is under 600 sq ft. The entire space is approx 40x 30. Do you know how much stamped concrete will cost per sq ft?
