Start by pulling the sectional off the wall and closer in toward the tv a bit.

I can’t move it closer because it would cover the door and behind it would create too big of a space from kitchen to living space

Perhaps it would be nice to have two seating areas, back to back, one facing the TV and the other facing the other way, into the next space. Hard to say without seeing the entire space of the room. … can you add more photos? The couch is too far away from the TV right now for optimal viewing. (Lots of guides online for matching this to your t v size) Can you remove the loveseat piece of the sectional that runs aling the wall? If so, here’s an idea. Slide the couch way forward to the ideal viewing depth. Add a console table along the back of the couch. (A Good idea to help fill the room in any case.) Then, move the ”loveseat” with its back against the console table, facing the other way. If that does not fit, you could accomplish the same idea by putting 2 new small footprint chairs and small cocktail tables there. Or if you have a family, small table and chairs for kid activities. Think about functional spaces, and layout furniture to create spaces that match your activities .

Also: Add a tall ficus tree in a big pedestal pot or basket on either side of the TV. Instant ambiance, life, texture and a sense that the room is filled. Way better than useless ornamental furniture there

FWIW, most of the online sources for area rugs (rugs.usa, overstock, etc.) have rugs larger than 10x14. Looks like 12x15, 12x16, 12x18 are common.
