Do you think these curtains would go in this room?
Comments (7)Very pretty room~ I love that table lamp by the way. I cannot tell color in your photo ( I have the same issues in my house and with my camera skills) but I think those curtains are very nice. I think they are on the formal side, but I guess it's really that valance they show it with that makes it seem more formal. What color are you looking at- ? So to answer your question- I think they would be great. The only hesitation I have is the formal pull, and the color.....See MoreWhat do you think of this chandelier for my dining room?
Comments (53)I forgot to mention that I travel with an 8 year old boy! Do you mind if he tags along? He would love that pool! Your house is so wonderful, I'm so glad that you took the time to post pictures. I can only imagine the work involved but thank goodness you didn't tear it down! As for the chandelier, yeah, it may not matter what you put there! But, if you want to stay with that cottage cape cod feel consider finding something with more visual weight, and not so many lines. A lantern could be perfect. I don't know if you've ever seen the Currey and Co chandeliers? I love to go to their site just to look at their products, even when i'm not really shopping. This particular chandelier caught my eye for your room. Somethign simple, with some visual weight, although I'm not crazy about the black for your room. But maybe this will spark some ideas... Comments (21)Thanks Riverspots for your suggestion- I have actually seen one repro. of his work (at Ikea they have one which obviously is not the same but by him and the same idea =- women sitting at a bar socializing- but it is this painting- the whole theme of it- that I think is so great! I have researched this up the ying yang (trying to contact a gallery in Israel where the artist currently resides), but to be honest- I can't even come close to paying the prices for the original pieces. This one is (and i say this loosely) only $999.00 Still more than I would ever have spent on art in the past, but reasonable for something of this size and perfection.. I am not so concerned about the colors being off a little- My whole house is .full of earth-tones so I feel like no matter how off they are it will blend. I do appreciate your input though!! If i had a little spare change I might consider buying an original.. maybe someday!!! :)...See MoreWhat do you think of this Dining Room?
Comments (36)Becky-I'm sure my terminology is off saying coastal. Our home is a shingle style exterior, lots of traditional finishes and moldings but maintains a livable, casual feel and very open and airy with lots of windows bringing the outside in all around. I'm not sure what the term is, but that's what I mean more or less by coastal. Thank you My3dogs. I've read that LONG post and every single response twice. I appreciate the push to again look local and consider a custom table. I reconnected with a local woodworker and although it is priced more than the RH table, I think I can make it work in our budget. They use your choice of wood (oak, alder, doug fir) and your choice of stain or natural finish, etc. They do beautiful work, so I think I will go this direction. Not sure what I'll do for my sideboard/hutch yet, but that piece can come later if necessary. Here's a couple completed tables the local woodworker has completed:...See MoreRelated Professionals
