Need help with an annoying Robin
Comments (23)We decided to feed our birds in the yard.....put a red bird house out in the middle of our large yard....shortly, we went to visit family for 4 days. When we arrived home....the seeds were gone ( of course) and our covered patio with cushioned furniture were pooped on everywhere...the slider door to the dining room was very dirty! It took all afternoon to clean everything! We are in our early 80's, since then, we have had poop on the black iron at the front porch & concrete! All the other little birds are kind but these two robins are awful!! I think they plan on living in our huge blue spruce near the top! We used newspaper on the back slider. And come and go out other doors! The male, was stuck on our screen at the window in the dining room! I love birds but these two are pests & we are sick of having to wash big poops off everything! I think they are mad since we quit feeding the birds!!...See MoreLong Lasting Nasal Congestion. Annoying. help!
Comments (4)I feel like I'm the queen of sinus problems. I truly am not exaggerating when I sat I used to sneezed 100 times a day. After decades of dealing with almost completely blocked nasal passages almost 100% of the time I finally went to an allergist. Got the tests, and I'm allergic to just about everything that grows outside, so this spring has been murder, along with cats, dogs, pollen, etc. the usual. I now have 2 nasal sprays, Allegra and allergy shots every month. The combination works. I 100% agree with and recommend the nasal rinse. Make sure you buy the packets of salt specifically meant for it and use distilled water. It's amazing what salt water will do. I linked to the sinus rinse I use, I think it works better than a neti pot. Good luck, hope you have a wonderful trip. Comments (3)I had a similar problem with my daughter when she was 11- she is now 13. Summer was a few weeks away and I waited until then to let DD's friend know that over the summer I was going to be making many plans with family and other friends and asked that she not call. I called her mom to let her know that I was going to be encouraging DD to spend time with other friends as I was worried about the two spending so much time together. She agreed it would be hard but might be a good decision. I made an effort to keep DD involved and busy. When friend would call I reminded her that DD had family plans and that she should take this time to develop other friendships as well. After a month she stopped calling by the end of the summer I got a call from her mother saying that her daughter found other girls to spend time with and instead of investing herself in just one friend she was spreading it around. It seems it worked out well for everyone. DD sees friend at school but both have found other girls with similar interests and moved on... Hope that helps.I have found that kids with difficult backgrounds occasionally attach themselves to our family since we are very involved and stable but sometimes that isn't healthy for the friend or our family. Family always comes first so any friend who isn't kind to siblings or doesn't know when it's time to go home or how to behave doesn't get asked back. I've learned that preventing a friendship isn't as easy as just encouraging another friendship so that's the route we take....See MoreI can’t help it, I’m more than just annoyed....
Comments (36)Chisue this particular place has an average of 75ish dogs p/day. Some are boarding while their families vacation, others are just there for the daycare but it used to be a lot busier before the new owners took over. Back then it was usually 100-115 dogs a day. It’s part of the national franchise, Camp Bow Wow. They’re 3-4 facilities in the surrounding communities but the one we go to is one of the busier ones, at least it used to be. The Franchise has high expectations when it comes to animal care and cleanliness, (those cameras aren’t just for the dog owners IYKWIM) but I think that the biggest contributor to this facilities success was the way the previous owners ran it because they were always there. They were super engaged with their regulars as well as a local animal rescue. They’d sponser all kinds of things with the rescue like doggy picture day or events to promote animal awareness AND they brought in an affordable onsite groomer. The new owners are an older retired couple and literally never around. I don’t know about privately owned facilities since this is the only place she’s ever been. As for being lucrative, if ran well I guess there is the potential. The only draw back is that while there is a demand for it, there’s only so much value you can squeeze out of this type of service. I think at the prices facilities are demanding now it’s starting to max out people’s budgets including ours. When prices went from 16 to 18 a couple of years ago, I started cutting back on the number of times I’d take her there to help compensate. Now it went up again about a month ago to $20 and that’s where I’m pretty much maxed out. Ellie’s eight and while she still has energy and likes to play, her needs can easily be met at the county dog park and it even has a lake for the dogs to swim and play in. That’s only 30/year, I’m just afraid that once she discovers the lake, I won’t be able to get her out of the water! LOL...See Morestyling by Maxcy
