Two Story Great Room Painting and Trim/Molding Questions
Comments (26)I have a few more options. What do you think? Palimpsest, I did the one panel like you suggested and fixed the heights. I also like the idea of doing sort of a raised panel look, either in the color of the trim (with everything the same color) or else in the color of my book cases so it could mimic the book cases on the other wall (they will be stained blue) Any of these options look good? If I went with option 4 or 5, I'd probably have the paneling look more like this than exactly like above: Either painted trim color or painted in the blue....See MoreIs this called stair trim moulding, casing or shoe moulding?
Comments (8)This trim is called a 'mitred return' in terms of stair building. These are made by the same person who makes the treads either on site in pieces then installed or milled up as one piece treads. You can make them by routing the profile then cut to size on mitre/table saw....See MoreShould ceiling white match my crown moulding and trim white?? HELP!
Comments (1)Yes, the easiest way is to use the same paint color on the ceiling as the trim. However, the sheen for the ceiling should be flat while trim is better in a semi-gloss...See Morestucco mould vs door trim on exterior entry
Comments (1)Jamie, you can make a nice surround using composite material and trim which is very easy to do nowadays and you have a large profile selection available, or you can use stucco mold just make sure they use finish for "traffic area" being this a doorway which is more durable... The con with stucco is if it gets damaged it's much harder to repair and match the color in comparison to replacing a piece of trim. Good luck with your new home!...See MoreBeth H. :
