I really like the idea of a braided rug.

My preference would be a square one in the living room, and nothing under the dining table (yet). You can always add a rug there later if you’d like.

Such a charming and cozy look.

Maybe a long oval (but I wouldn’t do a round):

I had an LL Bean braided rug in my breakfast room in my previous house. I didn’t think it wore as well as other rugs and I found it hard to vacuum. It’s a great look but not an easy keeper.

Your house can have any rugs you fall in love with. I would look for wool ones since they’re the hardiest.

I would not do rug under the table…I would Not do a braided rug for family room dogs and cats will snag them they really do not wear as well as polypropylene rugs.

If you’re concerned about fishermen and dogs, get a washable rug for the sofa area and nothing under the dining table.

Here's another option from Ruggable for your living room area. I wouldn't place a rug under the dining table unless the rug is large enough to go under all chairs when they're pulled-out from the table.

I have one of their rugs I use in the winter in my entrance, they're fantastic, no matter the size they are machine washable and dryable.

I have a entry Ruggable rug not crazy about it unfortunately..it is lightweight and the corners keep turning up..just my experience wanted to share…mine is a 3x5 just fits in my washer and Can’t imagine a 8x10 fitting in a regular washing machine size.

My daughter and I both have a Ruggable rug, hers is an 5 x 7 and I have a 10 ft runner. We bought their recommended underpad and neither of us have had any problems whith it turning up and both rugs washed very nicely in our home equipment. Mine comes right up to the front door and never catches when we open the door.

I agree on Ruggable. We have one at our vacation rental cabin. You'll appreciate it.

I have 2 other wool flatweave area rugs which are much more expensive than the Ruggable and those curl at some of the corners but not the Ruggable one.

Tape a silver dollar or other flat, weighted item to the corners.

I would not use a rug under the dining table. I would add little protective stick-on pads for the feet of all the chairs to avoid scratching the flooring.
