Need advice on kitchen window treatments
Comments (11)Sorry I was away on the road for the past few days - the window is pretty big (72 x 72) and is only 1/2 feet over the floor. I do need privacy as my house sits on a slope and the house on the back sort of looks over mine (across two backyards). I am now debating between vertical blinds versus horizonal blinds - not cozy, I know but easier to maintain hopefully. But my concern is with horizontal blinds, it's going to be pretty wide (72") and will the blinds sag over time? Is it practical to have two (left and right side) horizontal blinds? But how would I install the blinds (plan to DIY) given there is no divider frame between the two sides and the window frame is metal? Also, will the two sides of the blinds constantly clash into each other? Thanks!...See MoreI need some window treatment help for this kitchen window
Comments (3)Vicki, I think a roman shade would look very nice! You could install it inside or you could hang it just below the crown molding on the cabinets. Depending on how much fabric you have and how much you want to spend, you could also make a mock roman shade that doesn't function. On this job I have mock roman shades inside the window in one area and then on the outside due to window depth limitations on another area....See MoreNeed help picking paint for new kitchen! Comments (15)@apple_pie_order The all white kitchens in my idea books also have wood floors which help to warm things up. Unfortunately, I was unable to talk hubby into wood floors for the kitchen so I had to go with tile which brings even more white into the mix. The furnishings are mine but the upholstered items will be recovered in a different fabric. I am not sure what to do with the furniture at this point since the furniture wood colors are so warm. I have toyed with the idea of another table and credenza but I am not sure I want the expense right now....See Morelooking for advise on window treatments
Comments (3)Your room is beautiful! I would do inside mounted shades. Roman shades or fabric roller shades would match the style of your room well. However, you may want to consider a different style for the kitchen window. We always advise clients that if you use a fabric shade over the sink, you need to be careful with splashing. We do a lot of screen shades and faux wood blinds at the kitchen sink for this reason (they are wipeable)....See MoreRelated Professionals
