Sherry, I haven't been here long enough to notice whether I'm seeing all the notifications from things I've commented on. Either that or I'm just forgetting what I commented on. You can go to your profile and check your own activity and see anything new. Sherry and Ali, I have noticed some very rude comments on here by a certain few. Many, sadly, are by "pros". I try to tell myself that I'm reading them with the wrong tone, but after reading many comments from the same people I'm not so sure that's the case. They seem to think my way or the highway. Think how boring the world would be if we all had to follow one set of "rules". We'd live in a world à la Stepford.

YES! At the moment I *supposedly* have 162 unread messages. They've been showing up 2, 3, 4 or so at a time for a few days and when I look they are all very old messages that I've already read - but 162? And on top of that 5 thread notifications. Wish they'd get their sh*t together - I'm kinda busy here!

They're taking your word for it but double-checking. The bank doesn't need to "legalize" anything or to cover itself. Cardholder agreements say that the individual authorizes account reductions for authorized charges (or liability, in the case of a credit card). If the bank's info sources suggest the charge was authorized, whether that's correct or incorrect, they're entitled to reinstate it as if it were a normal one triggered by the cardholder. At which point, kathsgarden, you'll need to speak with them further.
